Autoreissu 2026 osa 3

Vielä lomareissun kolme viimeistä päivää. Lauantaina lähdettiin aamusta Bomarsundin linnoituksen raunioille.

And finally the last three days of our road trip. On Saturday we headed to Bomarsund fortress ruins. 

Hieno ilma ja linnoituksen raunioita sopivin väliajoin.

The weather was great and it was nice to see ruins every now and then.

Osa reitistä kulki kunnolla luonnossa.

Part of the route was through the woods.

Portaat alas alkavat.

The stairs begin.

Naapurisaaren ranta oli vaikuttavan korkea.

The shore of the neighbouring island was impressive.

Notvikstornet, jossa on vielä muutama tykki jäljellä.

The Notvikstornet was another fortress. Some cannons are still there.

Kierroksen lopuksi syötiin lounas ja kävin bongaamassa yhden geokätkön tuolta muurin nurkalta.

After the hike we had lunch and I got one geocache from the corner of that wall.

Vaelluksen jälkeen oltiin vielä hetki mökillä ja ajettiin autolautalle Hummelvikiin. Sillä illaksi Brändölle, jossa ajettiin suoraan ekan saaren poikki rantapaikalle yöksi. 

After some time at the cottage we drove to Hummelvik for our ferry. That night we spent in Brändö island here in a quiet harbour.

Saatiin reissun hienoin auringonlasku. Aamukahvilla istuessa paikalle tuli virolainen tyyppi, jonka vaimo on ahvenanmaalainen. Käy kahdesti päivässä ruokkimassa kalat kasvattamossa ja jutteli aika pitkään siinä.

And we got the best sunset of the trip. While having the morning coffee a guy from Estonia came. His wife is a local and he feeds the fish farm fishes there twice a day. He chatted there for quite a long time.

Sunnuntaina olikin sitten koko päivä Brändöä, koska ainoat laivapaikat oli päivän viimeiseen vuoroon. Jätskit mukavassa maisemassa:

On Sunday we had the whole day at Brändö as the only free places in the next ferry were on the last shift. Ice cream with a view.

Kurkattiin google-karttaan merkattu nähtävyys kivitornit. Oli noita sentään parikolmekymmentä. 

Google maps had a sight called 'rock towers'. Well at least that place had about 30 of those.

Jätettiin auto hotellin pihaan ja käytiin pyöräilemässä neljän vuoden takaisia tuttuja paikkoja.

We left the car in the hotel parking lot and did some cycling to familiar places from our previous trip here four years ago.

Pyöräilyn jälkeen lepoa, uimassa käynti, ruokailu ravintolassa ja pari erää Odinia.

Then some resting, swimming, lunch in the hotel's restaurant and two rounds of Odin.

Lopuksi ajettiin Brändön pohjoispäähän Åvan satamaan odottelemaan omaa lauttaa. Lämmin kallio. Perään Star Wars deckbuilding game, jonka kesken piti välillä ajaa laivaan, kun ei meinattu huomata lautan saapumista.

Then we drove to the northernmost end of Brändö to Åva harbour to wait for our ferry shift. A warm rock. After which a round of Star Wars deck building game. It was so good that we didn't notice the ferry arriving and had to hurry there in the middle of the game.

Kustavissa oli pari kilometriä sataman jälkeen hieno järvi ja rauhallinen P-paikka yöpyä. Rannasta löytyi vessa, roskikset ja vesi oli aamulla lämmintä.

A few kilometres after the harbour we parked by a nice calm lake. There was a toilet, trash cans and really warm lake water the next morning.

Ajettiin Raumalle, jossa tuli reissun toinen pyöräily. Kitukränn on Suomen kapein katu.

At Rauma we did the second bicycling of the trip. This Kitukränn is the narrowest street in Finland. The sign says that 'all kinds of messing is strictly forbidden under the threat of a 20 mark fine'.

Se tuli nyt pyöräiltyä läpi. Autot pääsee tuosta kerran vuodessa, kun autoharrastajille on poikkeuslupa.

And we drove via it. Cars can drive here once a year when local car enthusiasts have permission to drive through. 

Nätti pelikauppa ja Katarina jo odottelemassa. Tosin lautapelejä oli vain pari hassua.

A nice game shop and Katarina is already waiting. Though it was a quick visit as there were just a few board games.

Pyöräilyn kohteena oli Kiikartorni venesataman vieressä.

The main target of our cycling was Kiikartorni by the harbour.

Tikkukamera oli mukana ja pari kuvaa tuli sille otettua. Tämä hiirellä käänneltävä 360-kuva on tuolta tornin huipulta. Vieressä näkyy Nokan taidetorppa, jossa oli mukava näyttely. 

I had my stick camera with me and remembered to use if a few times. Here's a mouse draggable 360-photo from the top of that tower. The old yellow building nearby is a nice art gallery.

Matkalla kohti kotia pysähdyttiin pitkästä aikaa Lankoskella tuon päivän jätskille. Käytiin museosillan yli myllyssäkin. 

While driving back home we stopped briefly at Lankoski for that day's ice cream. We also walked over the museum bridge and visited this old mill.

Alakerran kahvilassa oli reilut 100 vuotta vanha vielä toimiva kassakone. Yläkerran käsityömyymälässä oli kaikenlaista - hauskin oli kyltti 'Varo koiraa, äläkä luota kissaankaan'. 😄

The coffee shop downstairs had a bit over 100 years old cash register that still worked. The souvenir shop upstairs had all kinds of stuff. The funniest was a sign 'Beware of the dog, and don't trust the cat either'. 😄

Klippis ja häät

Viikon 26 kuvana on autoreissun jälkeen tyhjennetty Katarinan vanha parturiliike. 

The photo of week 26 is Katarina's almost empty barbershop which we emptied after the roadtrip.

Viikon 27 kuva on tämän kesän ainoat häät. Katarinan siskon poika meni naimisiin, eli tässä tuore aviopari Elin ja Rasmus.

The photo of week 27 is the only wedding we participated in this Summer. Katarina's sister's son Rasmus married Elin.

Autoreissulta tullessa käytiin ensin tutustumassa Millan leikkimökkiin, kuultiin kuulumiset ja syötiin uusiokäytettävät jätskit.

Right after the roadtrip we visited Milla's playhouse to hear all the news and have some reusable ice cream.

Keskiviikkona aloitettiin urheilulla ja kuvasin juoksulenkin loppupuolella pitkään ihastelemani Sulvan Paratiisi-kyltin. 😃

We started Wednesday with sports and I finally shot this graffiti sign I've been admiring. 'Paradise' 😃

Mökki oli poissaolon aikana saanut kukkakoristelun eteensä.

The cottage had some flower decorations while we were away.

Uutena pelinä oli Evacuation, joka oli taas suht monimutkainen, mutta ihan hyvä. Pelattiin se kahdesti ja jäi hyllyyn odottamaan seuraavaa kertaa.

The first new game was Evacuation. It's quite complicated but we liked it, so it will stay on my shelf waiting for the next time.

Toinen näiden viikkojen uusi peli oli Blueprints, joka oli jo mulla myyntikasassa, kun oli tylsä yksinpelinä 4,5v sitten. Mutta tuli nyt takas hyllyyn, koska tuohan oli kahdestaan ihan hyvä.

The other new game of these weeks was Blueprints. I had it for trade as the first test 4,5 years ago was a bit boring. But now it's back on the shelf as it was quite good with human opponent.

Pari pupua pyörii koko ajan mökin ympärillä, aina kävellessä jonnekin ne ryntäävät yhtäkkiä pakoon. Mutta muuten reilu 10 metriä riittää turvaväliksi, jos kävelee eri suuntaan.

There are two bunnies hanging around the cottage site and they always run from some corner when we happen to walk close by. Otherwise 10 meters (33ft) is safe enough if we don't walk towards them.

Seuraavan viikon maanantaina käytiin Klippiksen siivouksen jälkeen pikaisesti Noellen kanssa uimarannalla.

After the cleaning on Monday we did a quick visit to the swimming beach with Noelle, Katarina's youngest grandkid.

Tiistaina mentiin Laihialle. Tässä Anni ja Artturi esittelevät hoitopaikkansa leikkipaikkaa. Tuon jälkeen mentiin Laihian uimahalliin kolmeksi tunniksi. Katarinan lapsenlapsi Milla oli mukana, joten Mariannen kanssa oli kaikille kolmelle oma vahtinsa.

On Tuesday we drove to Laihia with Katarina and her granddaughter Milla. Here Artturi and Anni are showing the playground of their daycare place. After this we went to the swimming hall of Laihia for three hours. Three adults and three to guard. 

Keskiviikkona käytiin kauden eka kajakkikierros niemen rantaa pitkin.

On Wednesday we did the first kayaking of this season.

Osa reitistä oli jo aika kasvanutta.

Part of the route was quite exciting.

Nätti naapurimökki ilman ajotietä perille.

A nice neighbour cottage without a road.

Vesi oli meressäkin vihdoin melko sopivaa, joten uimassa tuli käytyä joka päivä, ja yleensä vähintään kahdesti.

The water temperature was finally nice, so we went swimming at least once a day, often more often.

Sitten muutama kuva lisää Elinin ja Rasmuksen häistä. Foreca näytti joka puolella rankkasadepilviä, mutta tuurilla yksikään ei mennyt tuolloin Oravaisten keskustan yli.

Then a few more photos from Elin and Rasmus' wedding. The weather forecast looked like there would be a lot of rain for the area but we were lucky and there wasn't any rain on that day.

Juhlat pidettiin läheisellä tanssipaikalla, joka oli hienon näköinen. Syömistä, juomista ja ohjelmaa. 😊👍🏻

The actual party was in a nearby 'dancing hall' with nice decorations. Eating, drinking and programme. 😊👍🏻

Hääparille oli tehty oma juhlaolut oli 100% OK ja nautittavaksi vain tuona päivänä.

Tuli sentään yksi yhteiskuva meistäkin.

We remembered to take one picture together too.

Autoreissu 2026 osa 2

Ja seuraavat kolme päivää reissua oli ke-pe. Keskiviikkona syötiin lounas Salon keskustassa puiston reunassa. 

The next three days of our roadtrip was Wed-Fri. On Wednesday we had lunch at downtown Salo next to a park.

Sinä aamuna vielä kierrettiin Suujärvi kansanpuiston alueella hauskaa harjannetta, jossa järvet molemmilla puolilla.

That morning we walked around the lake by which we stayed overnight. There was a nice ridge with lakes on both sides.

Salossa syömisen jälkeen ekana kohteena oli Ilmusmäki, joka jossain tuli vastaan nähtävyytenä. Oli lähinnä metsässä tallaamista kun puut peitti näkymät. Tuo kivikasa sentään oli suojeltu muinaismuisto.

After lunch we visited a hill which was supposed to be a viewing site, but it was mainly walking in the woods. No views there. But this protected ancient monument rock pile.

Ja isojen kivien välissä oli hauskoja pieniä luolia. 

And fun little caves below big rocks.

Salon veturitallissa kierrettiin näyttely, joka oli ihan mukava. Rakennus oli samanlainen kehä kuin Vaasassa Wärtsilän edellinen ruokala vanhassa veturitallissa.

The next stop was the Salo art hall where we looked through a contemporary art exhibition. The building is an old train maintenance hall which is now in new use.

Käytiin jätskillä lukiokaverin Eijan luona.

We had ice cream with my former classmate.

Yöksi ajettiin Naantaliin, jossa aamulla laivaan. Meyerin telakka oli vaikuttavan näköinen ohiajaessa.

For the night we drove to Naantali and on the next morning we boarded the ferry. A new ship is being built here.

Meillä oli varattuna brunssi ja oli kyllä positiivinen yllätys. Odotin niitä isoja seisovia pöytiä, mutta tuo olikin pienimuotoinen laadukkaampi tapaus.

We had booked a brunch and it was a positive surprise. I assumed it would be those standard boring big buffet boards but this was a more personalised case.

Satsiin kuului yksi lämmin annos listalta ja sopivan kokoinen seisova pöytä.

Each visitor got one warm portion from the menu and there was a compact one table buffet.

Ahvenanmaan lähestyessä riitti saaria kuvattavaksi.

Near Ahvenanmaa there were a lot of islands to shoot.

Perillä ajettiin suoraan Vårdöhön Katarinan siskon ja miehensä kotiin. Sinne oli rakennettu sauna, joka oli heti lämmitettynä meille.

Once we arrived at the islands we drove directly to Katarina's sister and her husband's place. They had a new sauna which was heated for us.

Syömisen jälkeen siirryttiin osallistumaan juhannussalon rakentamiseen. Seppeleiden teko tässä ja itse olin pisimpään tuolla taustalla Tomin ja kaiman kans irrottelemassa lehtiä narua varten.

After dinner we went to a nearby field to participate in the building of a Midsummer pole. Women are doing the garlands,  I did most of my time back there with guys cutting leaves for the string.

Istuttiin ilta, sisarukset vaihtoi kuulumiset ja nukkumaan. Seuraavana aamuna lähdettiin kävelylle. Ensin rantaan.

Then we just sat outside, sisters talked and finally we went to bed. The next morning we had a hike around the area. First the pier.

Metsäosuudella nähtiin Ahvenanmaan hienoin kierrätysasema.

During the woods part we saw the finest recycling station of Ahvenanmaa.

Tuolla oli lajittelusäiliöiden lisäksi aseteltuna muiden hylkäämät kamat, että ne voisi ottaa uusiokäyttöön.

They had bins for all recycling categories and also stuff arranged so that anyone who could use them could take them.

Lounaan jälkeen taas juhannussalon tekoon. Tehtiin yksi 50 metrin pätkä lankaa, näitä menee kaikkiaan salkoon 300 metriä.

After lunch we continued the Midsummer pole preparation. It needs 300 meters (1000 ft) of this string, here we finished one part.

Seppeleet asennetaan paikoilleen.

Ja kaikki asennetaan paikoilleen.

And all the stuff joined together.

Isompia ja pienempia vieraita alkoi ilmaantua paikalle.

Smaller and bigger guests started to arrive.

Viime vuoden voittojen jämillä oli ostettu vinssi ja nyt kokeiltiin sitä ekan kerran nostamiseen.

They had used the rest of last year's earnings to a winch and it was now tested for the first time.

Nousi hienosti pystyyn. Facebookista mulle vilautettiin, että ainakin kaksi pylvästä oli taas kaatunut tänä juhannuksena. Ei kyllä ollut tietoa, että Suomen vaiko Ruotsin puolella.

They got it up well. I was shown some facebook videos that at least two of the poles had fallen but luckily no casualties. I don't know if those happened on Finland or Sweden side.

Porukkaa oli taas varmaan 200 henkeä (kuten viime vuonnakin). Tässä Timo kuuluttaa voittaneita arpanumeroita.

There were probably 200 people (the same as last year). Here Timo reads the winning numbers of the lottery.

Juhlan jälkeen iltaruoka ja viisi erää pelaamista. Ensin kolmesti tämä Project L ja sen jälkeen kaksi erää Odinia ja nukkumaan klo 01.

After the happening we had dinner and played board games. First this Project L three times. Then Odin twice and to bed at 1 a.m.
