Malta vielä!

Kävin kuvarästejä läpi ja yksi käsittelemätön oli näemmä joulun 2021 matka yksin Maltalle. Tapasin Katarinan reilu kaksi viikkoa tämän jälkeen ja loppu onkin historiaa. Ehkä nämä rästit vähitellen hoituu ennen eläkkeelle jäämistä.

I started going through my unpublished photos and one of those seems to be my trip alone to Malta in December 2021. I met Katarina about two weeks after this trip. Maybe I will get these waiting photos handled before I retire.

Olin tilannut heti kentältä taksin viereiseen pienempään saareen Gozolle ja siellä majoitus Blue Waters -sukellusfirman vieressä saman omistajan majatalossa. Olin siellä ainoa vieras koko tuolla viikolla, ei oikein sesonkia.

I had booked a taxi from the airport to the next smaller island, Gozo. There I had accommodation in Blue Waters diving company's owner's guest house. I was the only visitor during that week, clearly not the busiest season.

Otin heti ekaksi päiväksi pari sukellusta, niin näkee kannattaako jatkaa. Ihan ok, mutta kaksi riitti. Ekana käytiin katsomassa pääsaarien välissä olevalle pikkusaarelle Cominolle menevää vesiputkea.

I took a two tank dive for the first day so I could see if it's worth doing more. It was OK but enough for me. We first checked out the fresh water pipe going to the nearby Camino island.

Ajettiin toiselle rannalle ja mukaan tuli toinen asiakas. Raskaat pullot laittoi asennon vähän etukumaraan.

Then we drove to another site, and picked another client on the way. The heavy bottles made my pose a bit forward leaning.

Iltapäivällä lähdin kävellen satamaan. Ylhäältä näkyi se viereinen pikkusaari ja muutakin maisemaa.

That afternoon I walked to the harbour. From above I got a nice view of the sea and that neighbouring little island.

Palasin takaisin rantaa menevää polkua, vähän jo ehti aurinko laskea ennen kämpille pääsyä.

I walked back to my room via a path by the seaside. It was a bit dark before I got there.

Seuraavana päivänä 23.12. lähdin bussilla Victoriaan, jossa tuli kurkattua yksi kirkko.

The next day was 23rd December and I took a bus to Victoria town. A church there:

Linnoituksen huipulta oli hienoja maisemia.

The other direction was more green.

Kävelin linnoituksen taakse ja tämä oli ainoa dronekuva, jonka ehdin ottaa. Vehje lähti melkein heti laskeutumaan jonkin dronepysäyttimen signaalista ja vartija käveli kohti. Mä kaivoin valmiiksi esille lupakirjan ja Maltan nettisivujen tiedon, että saa lennättää, mutta väitti historiallisten kohteet olevan kiellettyjä. 😒

After lunch I walked behind the castle and I got only this one drone photo of it. My drone started to land by itself due to some stopping device and a guard walked to me. I showed him my EU drone permission and Malta drone rules, but he claimed that historical sites were forbidden to shoot (even though Malta's website had no such mention). 😒

Loppupäivänä tuli kurkattua vielä toinenkin kirkko, oli kyllä koristeellista.

During the rest of the day I checked out yet another church. Those are heavily decorated.

Syksy saa

The photo of week 36 is from the 95th birthday of my father's oldest brother.

Viikon 37 kuva on Mikon kämpältä tapettihommia. Oltiin molemmat ekaa kertaa asialla, mutta Katarinan ohjeilla homma hoitui. Voitte arvata, että laitettiinko seinään vaiko poistettiin. 😃

The photo of week 37 is from my son's apartment where we did our first ever wallpaper work. You can guess if we put it on or tore it away. 😃

Keskiviikkona käytiin Katarinan kanssa Seinäjoella katsomassa Ismo Leikolan standup-show ja oli taas ylihyvä! Tässä esittelee myynnissä ollutta pyyhettä, jonka kanssa ei tarvitse miettiä, että mihin mitäkin pyyhkikään viimeksi.

On Wednesday Katarina and I drove to Seinäjoki to watch Ismo Leikola's standup show and it was great! He's also selling merchandise - here's a towel with clearly marked sections for face and ass to get rid of that big remembering problem.

Mökillä pelattiin uutena pelinä Havalandi. Tuo oli vähän rajoilla, että onko tylsä vai ok. Nopea se ainakin oli pelata.

We played a new game called Havalandi. It's at least fast to play, but not sure if it's boring or quite ok.

Mökille oli tehty katto uusiksi ja purettiin palautettavaksi rakennustelineet.

The cottage now has a new roof, so we dismantled the scaffolding and returned them.

Merilintu tuuletti siipiään kuivaksi kivellä vaikka kuinka kauan.

A seabird was doing this for a long time. Surely the wings got dry.

Sunnuntaina oli Wärtsilän perhepäivä ja kun sain virallisen kuvaajan liivin, niin sai räpsytellä sydämensä pohjasta. Tässä Artturi ja Anni ihmettelevät ensimmäistä näkymää tehtaan puolelle.

On Sunday Wärtsilä had a Family day and since I got the vest of an official photographer I got a lot of pics. Here's Artturi and Anni getting the first glimpse of the most exciting area.

Tilaisuudesta kotiin kävellessä ihmeteltiin telttailevaa nuorisoa, mutta tuo oli kuulemma jonotus johonkin lippujen myyntiin. En vielä saanut selville, että minkä.

While walking home from that Family day event we wondered about these youngsters with tents. I heard that they were queuing for some tickets, but don't know yet which ones.

Saman päivän iltapäivälle olikin sitten vierailu Laihialle Annin 3v-juhliin.

On that same day we drove to Laihia for Anni's 3rd birthday.

Seuraavalla viikolla torstaina oli Breezy dev konferenssi, jossa sattui heti työkavereita 26 vuoden takaa ja tuoreempiakin.

The next Thursday was the Breeze dev conference where I got to eat breakfast with workmates from 26 years in the past as well as a more recent one.

Paljon hehkutettiin tekoälyä.

Mökillä on mukavan vähän valosaastetta.

There's not much light pollution at the cottage. Good!

Näitä on tullut ennenkin, mutta mainintana, että taas syötiin lounas uudella terassilla.

I've published a few lunch photos but fyi that we had again one on the new terrace.

Perjantaina käväisin pikapulahduksella 15C meressä ennen Vaasaan paluuta Katarinan yövuorojen tieltä.

Katarina started two night shifts on Friday so after the day's tasks I took a quick dip in the ocean (15C / 59F) before driving back to Vaasa.

Kotoa kävelin heti Mälliin seuraamaan standup-iltaa. Viimeisenä oli tosiaan paras, eli Roosa Maskonen.

At home I walked directly to watch a standup show of six performers. This Roosa as the last one was clearly the best.

Mallorcan video ja 360-luola

Ja sitten viimeinen postaus Mallorcaa. Kasasin videoista ja pimennyksen 360-videosta tuollaisen. Vaikka täydellisen pimennyksen kehä jäi pilven taakse, niin pimennyshetki 10x nopeudella näyttää hauskasti miten varjo ilmaantuu ja menee ohi ja paikka pimenee 1,5 minuutiksi. 

And now the last post about the Mallorca trip. I quickly gathered a video of the clips and a 360-video of the eclipse. Even though the totality was hidden behind the cloud, this 10x speed shows nicely how the shadow comes and goes and the place gets dark for 1,5 minutes.

Elokuu oli sitte siinä

Viikon 34 kuvana on Victorian vierailulta Vaasaan. Olin suht ajoissa paikalla kuntosalin jälkeen, mutta paikan kanssa oli huonoa tuuria. Pari tarkkaa osumaa sentään sain.

The photo of week 34 is from the visit of Swedish crown princess Victoria. I was there quite early but had bad luck in choosing my spot. But I got a couple of sharp shots though. She's here in the middle.

Viikolle 35 osui huvilakauden päättäjäisetkin, mutta kuvana kuitenkin mun 40. verenluovutus. Kätevä 20 minuutin homma, kun sai käydä työpaikalla hoitamassa.

The photo of week 35 could have been the Villa season's ending but on that Thursday my 40th blood donation happened so I picked it. A handy 20 minute task at the work place.

Tuli vihdoin kurkattua Sundomin ranta toiseltakin puolelta. Siellä olikin Böljan!

I finally happened to check out the other shore of Sundom. Böljan was there!

Katarina lähti Mallorca-reissun jälkeen mökille ja sain sieltä uuden tilannekuvan.

Katarina sent me a status pic from the cottage after we returned from the Mallorca trip.

Tiistaina käytiin autoreissulla Luodossa vaihtamassa väärin lähetetyt mökin vesihuoneen ovet.

On Tuesday we did a road trip to Luoto to switch the wrong doors that they sent for the cottage expansion building.

Paluumatkalla iltapalaksi paikallinen klassikko.

We got hungry and tested a local classic.

Toisena pysäkkinä otettiin kuvat Oravaisten keskustassa olevasta monien mahdollisuuksien talosta. Siinä on nyt kaksi erillistä 105 m2 asuntoa, jotka yhdistettävissä. Tämä on MYYTÄVÄNÄ ja vapaa heti. Ota yhteyttä, jos haluat lisää valokuvia ja omistajan yhteystiedot.

The second return trip stop was a house that's for sale at Oravainen (about 49 km to North from Vaasa). We promised to check out if somebody would be interested in buying it.

Viikon uutena pelinä oli tiukka Woodcraft. Tätä pelattiin neljä peliä, kun kerrankin tuo sujui multa ja voitin kolme ekaa peliä. 😄

The new game of the week was tight Woodcraft. We played this four times as for once it went well for me and I won the first three rounds. 😄

Vielä oon saanut aikaiseksi käydä salilla 2-3 krt viikossa.

I've kept going to the gym for 2-3 times per week.

Käytiin illallisella Elsan luona.

We had dinner at Elsa's place.

Katarinan mökin laajennus etenöö! Tänään purettiin rakennustelineet ja palautettiin ne.

The cottage expansion forwards. Today we took down those scaffolds and returned them.

Tekijä oli vielä perjantain paikalla ja mukana oppisopimuksella työskentelevä apulaisensa.

The builder along with his apprentice was still there on Friday. 

Huvilakauden päättäjäisten kunniaksi käytiin Katarinan veljen mökillä istumas iltaa.

At the cottage season's ending weekend we visited Katarina's brother and his family.

Siellä olikin ostettuna raketteja. Siitä onkin jo jonkin aikaa, kun on niitä nähnyt läheltä. 

He had bought some fireworks, I haven't seen those in many years this close.
