Serkkutapaaminen ja mökkilaajennus

Viikon 30 kuvana on ryhmäkuva äiteen puolen serkkutapaamisesta. Meitä oli 11 ja puolisot, kuusi serkkua ei päässyt paikalle.

The photo of week 30 is a group shot from cousins meeting from my mother's side. There were 11 of us with avecs, six didn't make it.

Viikon 31 kuvana on aamupalatunnelmia mökin laajennuksen pohjaa ihastellen.

The photo of week 31 is a breakfast session admiring the oncoming cottage extension.

Serkkutapaamista edeltävänä päivänä hain Annin ja Artturin yökylään mökille. Esiteltiin kaikki paikat.  

A day before the cousins' meeting I picked up Anni and Artturi to stay overnight at the cottage. An introduction round of all the buildings.

Tutkittiin kiviaidan päällys.

Ehdittiin myös vielä trampoliiniin, paljuun ja pelaamaan Labyrinttia. Lauantaina palatessa ihasteltiin lossimatkan näkymiä.

The visit's program included trampoline, hot tub and Labyrinth board game. The next day kids got to admire ferry trip views.

Tuon viikonlopun pelinä oli Teddies vs Monsters. Tämä on reaaliaikainen sykkeen kohottaja - siinä ei ole pelivuoroja, vaan tehdään omaa osuutta mahdollisimman nopeasti ja yritetään joko pelastaa tai syödä kolme nukkuvaa lasta.

The new game of the weekend was Teddies vs Monsters. It's a real heart pulse booster as there are no turns but each tries to act as quickly as possible. You're either trying to save three sleeping kids or eat them.

Sunnuntaina ehdittiin vielä purkamaan terassia kaivinkoneen tieltä.

On Sunday we demolished part of the terrace before the shovel arrived.

Sen jälkeen ajetiin Vaasaan kokeilemaan VR-peliä Smashroomiin Mariannen ja Mikon kanssa. 

Then we drove to Vaasa to test out a VR game in Smashroom with Marianne and Mikko.

Näytti omiin silmiin hurjemmalta tuo peli. 😃

Vaasa Festival osui mökkiviikonloppuun, mutta ehdittiin kuulla yksi kappale aika läheltä. Tosin järkkäri tuli sanomaan, ettei täällä saisi olla. 

We had a cottage weekend during Vaasa Festival, but we got to listen to a song quite close. Then an usher came to tell us that we can't be here.

Toisenkin viikonlopun peli oli hiljan ostettu Turusta. Everdell Duo on tiiviimpi versio Everdellistä, tämä toimi ainakin hyvin meille. Mun piti saada aina uusi peli, kunnes neljännen mä viimein voitin.

The board game for the second weekend was also bought from Turku two weeks ago. Everdell Duo is a shortened version of Everdell and it worked really well for us. I wanted one more game until the fourth one I finally won.  

Vielä toinen näkökulma tulevaan laajennukseen. Katarina teki timpurille neuvoa-antavat huoneiden ja vessan yms paikkamerkit.

And one more point of view to oncoming extension. Katarina built a lath model for the carpenter of room and toilet etc locations.

Finncon työviikkojen keskellä

Viikon 28 kuvana mun Lukinvalo-kirjaan saama nimmari Adrian Tchaikovskyltä. Olin sunnuntain jonossa ekana.

The photo of week 28 is me getting an autograph to Spiderlight book from Adrian Tchaikovsky. I was the first in the queue on Sunday.

Viikon 29 kuva on valmentaja Erikin kanssa. Tarkoitus testata josko säännöllinen kuntosalikäynti tosiaan toimii. Ja näin kun sen kertoo julkisesti, niin kynnys lipsua on hiukan isompi.

The photo of week 29 is with personal trainer Erik. I'm going to test if a regular visit to the gym actually works. And by telling it publicly I rise the level to quietly be lazy and stop that too quickly.

Maanantaina näin pitkästä aikaa Nokian ja Turun perhettä.

On Monday I saw family members from the South for a long time.

Vaasa-kyltti rannassa on tuunattu kesäiseksi.

The Vaasa sign has been tuned to be nice.

Lauantaina ajettiin lasten kanssa Turkuun. Ensin piti tsekata Pelipeikko. 

On Saturday I drove to Turku with my kids. But first we checked out the Pelipeikko shop.

Lounaan jälkeen Finncon, jossa oli heti värikästä.

After lunch we went to Finncon, which started colourfully.

Tavaraa riitti yliopiston käytävillä.

There was a lot of stuff for sale.

Katsottiin molempina päivinä pari esitelmää, tämä oli 'naamiaiset', joka oli käytännössä kuitenkin naamiaisasujen esittely.

We participated in a couple of programs on both days. This was 'masquerade' even though it was in practice a presentation of costumes.

Tuon jälkeen Prismasta ilta- ja aamupalaa Airbnb-kämppään ja syötiin + pelattiin ilta.

Then to shop for an evening meal and breakfast before going to our Airbnb place. Then a few games. 

Sunnuntaina kiiruhdettiin nimmarijonoon, joka ei ollutkaan kauhea ryysis. Klo 11 mentiin kuuntelemaan Twin Peaks keskustelua.

On Sunday morning we hurried to the autograph queue which wasn't that long. At 11 we checked out a discussion about Twin Peaks. 

Joku Overlord tämä oli. 

This was an Overlord something.

Sain sentään yhden tuntemattomankin tälle vuodelle. Denise lupautui 100 tuntematonta sarjaan.

I got a new participant in my 100 strangers series when Denise let me take her picture.

Toinen keskustelusessio, japanikauppa ja lounas, minkä jälkeen AC/RC-kuoro esitti peli-, tv- ja elokuvamusiikkia. Sitten olikin aika ajaa Pohjanmaalle.

Then one more panel discussion, kids to Japan store, lunch and AC/RC choir presented some game, tv and movie melodies. After that a drive back home.

The railing looked old so I shot a view with it.

Kuumana päivänä Hietsun P-paikka ei ihan riittänyt, vaan sitä jatkettiin lähes Wasalandiaan asti.

On a hot day the beach parking didn't have enough room so they continued the line on the bike path.

Uimassa pulahduksen jälkeen nähtiin Elsa ja käytiin kolmistaan terassilla.

After swimming we met Elsa and the three of us had drinks on a terrace by the sea.

Jännät tornit Sulvalla, jo kerran ennenkin kuvatussa rakennuksessa.

Perjantaista lauantaihin mökillä oli vieraana Noelle ja isosisko Nicole vietti paikalla perjantain. 

From Friday to Saturday we had Noelle at the cottage, Nicole was also there on Friday.

Viikonlopun uusi peli oli Salton Sea, joka oli taas kyllä kiinnostava tapaus. Itse paikka on taas surullinen tapaus.

The new game of the weekend was Salton Sea, which is a good game even though the actual place has a bit of a sad situation nowadays.

Sunnuntai-illalle oli vielä hommana pussitusta.

Autoreissu 2026 osa 3

Vielä lomareissun kolme viimeistä päivää. Lauantaina lähdettiin aamusta Bomarsundin linnoituksen raunioille.

And finally the last three days of our road trip. On Saturday we headed to Bomarsund fortress ruins. 

Hieno ilma ja linnoituksen raunioita sopivin väliajoin.

The weather was great and it was nice to see ruins every now and then.

Osa reitistä kulki kunnolla luonnossa.

Part of the route was through the woods.

Portaat alas alkavat.

The stairs begin.

Naapurisaaren ranta oli vaikuttavan korkea.

The shore of the neighbouring island was impressive.

Notvikstornet, jossa on vielä muutama tykki jäljellä.

The Notvikstornet was another fortress. Some cannons are still there.

Kierroksen lopuksi syötiin lounas ja kävin bongaamassa yhden geokätkön tuolta muurin nurkalta.

After the hike we had lunch and I got one geocache from the corner of that wall.

Vaelluksen jälkeen oltiin vielä hetki mökillä ja ajettiin autolautalle Hummelvikiin. Sillä illaksi Brändölle, jossa ajettiin suoraan ekan saaren poikki rantapaikalle yöksi. 

After some time at the cottage we drove to Hummelvik for our ferry. That night we spent in Brändö island here in a quiet harbour.

Saatiin reissun hienoin auringonlasku. Aamukahvilla istuessa paikalle tuli virolainen tyyppi, jonka vaimo on ahvenanmaalainen. Käy kahdesti päivässä ruokkimassa kalat kasvattamossa ja jutteli aika pitkään siinä.

And we got the best sunset of the trip. While having the morning coffee a guy from Estonia came. His wife is a local and he feeds the fish farm fishes there twice a day. He chatted there for quite a long time.

Sunnuntaina olikin sitten koko päivä Brändöä, koska ainoat laivapaikat oli päivän viimeiseen vuoroon. Jätskit mukavassa maisemassa:

On Sunday we had the whole day at Brändö as the only free places in the next ferry were on the last shift. Ice cream with a view.

Kurkattiin google-karttaan merkattu nähtävyys kivitornit. Oli noita sentään parikolmekymmentä. 

Google maps had a sight called 'rock towers'. Well at least that place had about 30 of those.

Jätettiin auto hotellin pihaan ja käytiin pyöräilemässä neljän vuoden takaisia tuttuja paikkoja.

We left the car in the hotel parking lot and did some cycling to familiar places from our previous trip here four years ago.

Pyöräilyn jälkeen lepoa, uimassa käynti, ruokailu ravintolassa ja pari erää Odinia.

Then some resting, swimming, lunch in the hotel's restaurant and two rounds of Odin.

Lopuksi ajettiin Brändön pohjoispäähän Åvan satamaan odottelemaan omaa lauttaa. Lämmin kallio. Perään Star Wars deckbuilding game, jonka kesken piti välillä ajaa laivaan, kun ei meinattu huomata lautan saapumista.

Then we drove to the northernmost end of Brändö to Åva harbour to wait for our ferry shift. A warm rock. After which a round of Star Wars deck building game. It was so good that we didn't notice the ferry arriving and had to hurry there in the middle of the game.

Kustavissa oli pari kilometriä sataman jälkeen hieno järvi ja rauhallinen P-paikka yöpyä. Rannasta löytyi vessa, roskikset ja vesi oli aamulla lämmintä.

A few kilometres after the harbour we parked by a nice calm lake. There was a toilet, trash cans and really warm lake water the next morning.

Ajettiin Raumalle, jossa tuli reissun toinen pyöräily. Kitukränn on Suomen kapein katu.

At Rauma we did the second bicycling of the trip. This Kitukränn is the narrowest street in Finland. The sign says that 'all kinds of messing is strictly forbidden under the threat of a 20 mark fine'.

Se tuli nyt pyöräiltyä läpi. Autot pääsee tuosta kerran vuodessa, kun autoharrastajille on poikkeuslupa.

And we drove via it. Cars can drive here once a year when local car enthusiasts have permission to drive through. 

Nätti pelikauppa ja Katarina jo odottelemassa. Tosin lautapelejä oli vain pari hassua.

A nice game shop and Katarina is already waiting. Though it was a quick visit as there were just a few board games.

Pyöräilyn kohteena oli Kiikartorni venesataman vieressä.

The main target of our cycling was Kiikartorni by the harbour.

Tikkukamera oli mukana ja pari kuvaa tuli sille otettua. Tämä hiirellä käänneltävä 360-kuva on tuolta tornin huipulta. Vieressä näkyy Nokan taidetorppa, jossa oli mukava näyttely. 

I had my stick camera with me and remembered to use if a few times. Here's a mouse draggable 360-photo from the top of that tower. The old yellow building nearby is a nice art gallery.

Matkalla kohti kotia pysähdyttiin pitkästä aikaa Lankoskella tuon päivän jätskille. Käytiin museosillan yli myllyssäkin. 

While driving back home we stopped briefly at Lankoski for that day's ice cream. We also walked over the museum bridge and visited this old mill.

Alakerran kahvilassa oli reilut 100 vuotta vanha vielä toimiva kassakone. Yläkerran käsityömyymälässä oli kaikenlaista - hauskin oli kyltti 'Varo koiraa, äläkä luota kissaankaan'. 😄

The coffee shop downstairs had a bit over 100 years old cash register that still worked. The souvenir shop upstairs had all kinds of stuff. The funniest was a sign 'Beware of the dog, and don't trust the cat either'. 😄
