May began this year in great weather, but first time when staying in Vaasa this was the only celebration that I saw: students hanging around in the park.

Vapun aattona pelattiin ensiksi SETI, joka on kyllä mainio peli, vaikka kestikin koko illan.

The first Con game on April 30th was SETI, which is a great game and it took the whole evening.

Vapun autobongailutkin jäi suunnilleen tähän perjantaina juoksulenkille lähtiessä nähtyyn. No, pari amerikanrautaa näkyi kaduilla.

The special cars that we usually see on May the first was this year limited only to this. Well, I saw a few others briefly on the streets.

Perjantaina pelattiin ekana ekaa kertaa lähes viisi vuotta hyllyssä odottanut Manila. Vaikkei tuota ehkä jatkossakaan usein saa pöydälle, niin oli niin mukava tapaus, että säilyy kokoelmassa. Toisen pelatun pelin kuva olikin jo tuolla alussa.

On Friday I got the first play of Manila. It's been on my shelf for almost five years, but now that I experienced it, it's a keeper. The second Friday's game was already there at the beginning of this post.

Lauantaina oli muuttopäivä, kun Marianne ja Aatu + lapset muuttivat omakotitaloon Laihialle.

Saturday was a moving day, when my daughter and son-in-law + grandkids moved to Laihia to a town house.

Tiistaina tehtiin pikavisiitti Katarinan ja Stefanin veljen Christerin synttäreille Kristiinankaupunkiin.

On Tuesday we visited Katarina's and Stefan's brother Christer's birthday. 

Keskiviikoksi oli taloyhtiön vuosikokous.

On Wednesday I participated in the yearly meeting of our housing company.

Toisen viikonlopun uusi peli oli Autobahn. Mainio tapaus tämäkin!

The new board game of the second weekend was Autobahn. Yet another excellent game! 

Äitienpäiväkäynti tehtiin Katarinan äidillekin.

We also visited Katarina's mother for Mother's Day.

Ja sitten sunnuntaina meille tuli äitienpäivävierailulle Katarinan tytär Nadja perheineen.

Then on Sunday Katarina's daughter Nadja and her family came for a Mother's Day visit.

Wärtsilän kaupungin purku on nyt edennyt Laboratorioon, jossa näemmä on kaivinkoneet neljännessä kerroksessa.

The demolition of Wärtsilä's downtown buildings is now ongoing in the laboratory. There seems to be work machines on the fourth floor.

Saturday Classic - STORM II

Tuli vastaan vaikuttava koreografia ja päähän jäävä kappale Storm II. Kappaleen esittää ruotsalainen räppäri Yung Lean (oikea nimi Jonatan Håstad, tämä tupakkapoika) ja sen on tehnyt Gener8ion. Videon on ohjannut Romain Gavras. Alempi video on koko 7+ minuutin lyhytelokuva, jossa tämä sama kappale on sitten loppupuoliskona.

I happened to see a video with impressive choreography and an earworm song called Storm II. The singer and bad guy is a Swedish rap musician Yung Lean (i.e. Jonatan Håstad) and the song is made by Gener8ion. The video is directed by Romain Gavras. Below this is the whole 7+ minutes short film in which this same song is on the latter half.

Tässä lyhytelokuvassa on alussa 3 minuuttia tuon Jonatanin esittämän pahispojan puuhista, sitten tuo sama musavideo-osuus.

In this short video there's first three minutes of that bad bully boy (the singer, i.e. Jonatan), then the same music video.

Ta Prohm ja Angkor Wat

Seuraavaksi käsittelyyn kuvarästit vuodelta 2023, jossa Kambodzan kuvia tuli vain pari viikon kuva postauksessa. Oltiin matkan aluksi pari yötä Siem Reapissa.

Now I moved backward in time to unprocessed photos from the 2023 Cambodia trip. That trip started with two nights in Siem Reap.

Aamiaisen jälkeen hotellin mopotaksikuski lähti kierrättämään meitä temppeleiden kautta.

After breakfast the driver of our hotel drove us to a round trip to temples.

Ekana kohteena oli Ta Prohm temppeli, jossa oli kunnostus menossa yhdellä portilla.

The first temple was Ta Prohm, where they were fixing the wall on the gate.

Tämä on se kaikkien tunteman Tomb Raider leffan yksi kuvauspaikka. Mun lempipeli ja hyviä leffojakin olivat.

The first and famous Tomb Raider movie had one shooting location in this temple. Tomb Raider is also one of my top PC game memories. 

Laajakuvaa hitaasti ottaessa ehtii toiselle ovelle identtiseksi kaksoseksi.

Angkor Wat temppelin sisäosan pääsisäänkäynti ja sen kolme tornia on ainoa rakennus, joka löytyy jonkun valtion virallisesta lipusta.

Tässä rakennuksessa portaat olivat sen verran huonot, että ylös oli rakennettu paremmat.

Here the stairs were so bad that they had built better ones on top of those.

Nämäkin portaat oli suljettu, mutta tuon ukon piti sinne päästä kiipeämään.

These stairs were closed but that old man had to climb up anyway.

Päivä oli aika kuuma ja edellinen vuorokausi oli mennyt matkustamiseen, joten jätettiin temppelit näihin kahteen. Takas hotellille, pulahdus altaaseen ja illasta vielä vähän kävelyä lähikortteleissa.

Since it was a hot day and we had traveled the previous full day, we visited just these two temples. A ride back to the hotel, swimming pool and some nearby walking on that evening.

Wikipediasta löytyi hieno ilmakuva alueesta. Itse temppeli on 1025m x 802m ja tuolta takavasemmalta käveltiin alueelle.

I found a cool aerial shot of the Angkor Wat temple. The size of the actual temple building from the bridge is 1 km x 0,8 km (0,62 mi x 0,5 mi).

Aiemmin tuli julkaistua kuusi kuvaa alkumatkasta ja ne löytyy täältä Kambodza albumin alusta. Seuraavaksi blogataan matkasta pääkaupunkiin bussilla ja tietysti pääkaupungista.

Some 2+ years ago I published six pics from the beginning of that trip, those you can find from the top of this Cambodia album. The next post is from the capital to where we rode by a bus.

Kevät etenöö - päivät vilajaa

Viikon 16 kuva on Vaasan Suomi-Amerikka yhdistyksen 80v synttäreiltä, joka oli 17.4. 

The  photo of week 16 is from the Finland-USA association of Vaasa as it turned 80 years on April 17th.

Viikolla 17 alkoi Vaskiluotoon menevän pyörätiesillan uusinta ja sain 600 metriä lisää päivittäistä työmatkakävelyä.

The photo of week 17 is from my work trip where they started renewing the bike path bridge. I now have 600 meters longer walk to work.

Kevään ekat bongatut leskenlehdet pitää aina kuvata. Nyt sain mukaan vielä nokkosperhosenkin.

The first sighting of coltsfoot is here the sign of Spring. And this year there was a butterfly with it.

Viikolla vietin Artturin ja Annin kanssa viisi tuntia tekemällä viiden leikkikentän kierroksen.

During the week I spent five hours with Artturi and Anni by doing a five playground walk.

Ekan viikon uusi peli oli Moon. Toimiva suoraviivainen sydämien keräilypeli, eli yritetään saada oma kuutukikohta suosituimmaksi.

The new game of the week was Moon. It's a good straight forward game for collecting popularity (i.e. hearts) for your moon base.

Viikonloppuna tehtiin mökillä kevään aloituksen hommia. Perinteinen laiturin uitto paikalleen.

During the weekend we did Spring starting tasks at the cottage. Here's the traditional pier rowing. 

Koeajettiin se samana päivänä saunasta käsin. Vesi oli +9C mutta pulahdettiin kahdesti.

And we tested the pier twice on that same day. The water was +9C (48F) but the sauna helped. 

Ja oli jo sen verran lämmintä, että kevään ensimmäinen ulkolounaskin toteutui.

And it was warm enough for the first lunch outside.

Perjantaina oli taas standup-ilta O'malleyssissä. Pääesiintyjänä telkkarista tuttu Anders Helenius.

On Friday we went again to O'Malleys for a stand up night with six performers.

Toisen viikonlopun pelinä olikin vain yksi: Tervetuloa kuuhun. Tuossa on kahdeksan ihan erilaista kenttää raketin rakentamisesta lennon kautta kuutukikohdan pystyttämiseen. Oli kyllä toimiva tapaus. Pelattiin neljää ekaa kenttää viisi erää.

On the second weekend we played just one game but five rounds of it. Welcome to the Moon was new to us and a good game. There are eight different forms that tell the story of building a rocket and the moon base and between those flying it. We played the first four forms.

On Sunday we visited at the birthday of Katarina's sister-in-law. 

Ehdin vielä illalla kävelylle Vaasaan.

And I had time to do a walk in Vaasa downtown.

Addo vielä videonakin + kertaus on opintojen äiti

Ja sitten viimeinen postaus Etelä-Afrikan matskuista. Addo elefanttipuistossa tuli kuvattua 70 videon pätkää, joista valitsin osan ja trimmailin turhia pois. 

And now the final post from my South Africa materials. I shot 70 video clips in the Addo Elephant park and picked some of them and trimmed futile parts away.

Huhtikuu purot täyttää

Viikon 14 kuvana on pitkästä aikaa näkemäni pääsiäisvalakia! Käytiin Sulvalla katsomassa paloaseman vieressä järjestettyä tapahtumaa.

The photo of week 14 is the Easter bonfire. It's been many many years since my previous time to see these and now we saw one.

Viikon 15 kuvana on ensikäynti meidän vanhassa ruokalassa sen jälkeen kun Wärtsilä on poistunut alueelta (lähes).

The photo of week 15 is my first visit to the old Wärtsilä restaurant since its use was stopped for the company.

Sitten yhden kuvan verran maaliskuun puolelle. Kotiin kävellessä näkyi neljä kauko-ohjattavaa purjevenettä ajelutettavana sisäsatamassa.

Then for one photo back to March. On my walk home I noticed four radio controlled sailing boats being used nearby my home.

Aprillipäivänä käytiin Katarinan lapsenlapsen 12v synttäreillä.

On April 1st we had a birthday party for Katarina's 12 year old grandchild.

Tuon viikon uusi peli on Space Station Phoenix. Kiinnostava tapaus - omia aluksia tarvitsi pelaamiseen, mutta niitä oli myös pakko purkaa aseman rakentamiseen. Enkkulinkin takaa lisää.

The new board game of the week was Space Station Phoenix. An interesting planning case - you need your ships but also you need to dismantle those to get iron to build your station.

Torstaina käytiin viettämässä muutama tunti Annin ja Artturin kanssa.

On Thursday we spent a few hours with Anni and Artturi.

Nätti sähkökoppero Onkilahden rannalla.

Perjantaina ajettiin Elsan kanssa Seinäjoelle ja käytiin äiteen kanssa syömässä.

On Friday we drove with Elsa to Seinäjoki to have lunch with my mother.

Lauantaina oli sitten trullittelupäivä. Nicole pukeutui karhuksi ja lähti kaverin kanssa kiertelemään. Katarinan mökillä kävi toistakymmentä trullia ja valitsivat tarkkaan omat karkkinsa.

Saturday was the day for little witches to collect candy. Nicole went to wander around with her friend and over 10 kids visited Katarina's place. Here are some kids choosing carefully their candy.  

Sitten se pääsiäisvalakia-tapahtuma. Paikalla oli paljon porukkaa, myynnissä makkaraa ja lättyjä.

Then the bonfire happening. A lot of people there. Sausages and pancakes were for sale.

Katarina meni vahtimaan kolmatta lapsenlasta Millaa kiipeilykasalle.

Katarina watches after her third grandchild Milla climbing over the tires. 

Kun Nicole palasi kotiin, niin pelattiin muutamat pelit. Voittaja selvisi ainakin tästä karhupuistopelistä.

After Nicole returned we played a few games. The winner of Bear park has been found.

Mökillä pelattiin sitten seuraava uusi peli Flatiron. Tuo oli vähän parempi toisella kerralla, mutta vaisu vieläkin, joten laitoin myyntikasaan.

The second new board game was Flatiron. The second round was a bit better, but still just nice so I put it to my for-sale pile.
