Finncon työviikkojen keskellä

Viikon 28 kuvana mun Lukinvalo-kirjaan saama nimmari Adrian Tchaikovskyltä. Olin sunnuntain jonossa ekana.

The photo of week 28 is me getting an autograph to Spiderlight book from Adrian Tchaikovsky. I was the first in the queue on Sunday.

Viikon 29 kuva on valmentaja Erikin kanssa. Tarkoitus testata josko säännöllinen kuntosalikäynti tosiaan toimii. Ja näin kun sen kertoo julkisesti, niin kynnys lipsua on hiukan isompi.

The photo of week 29 is with personal trainer Erik. I'm going to test if a regular visit to the gym actually works. And by telling it publicly I rise the level to quietly be lazy and stop that too quickly.

Maanantaina näin pitkästä aikaa Nokian ja Turun perhettä.

On Monday I saw family members from the South for a long time.

Vaasa-kyltti rannassa on tuunattu kesäiseksi.

The Vaasa sign has been tuned to be nice.

Lauantaina ajettiin lasten kanssa Turkuun. Ensin piti tsekata Pelipeikko. 

On Saturday I drove to Turku with my kids. But first we checked out the Pelipeikko shop.

Lounaan jälkeen Finncon, jossa oli heti värikästä.

After lunch we went to Finncon, which started colourfully.

Tavaraa riitti yliopiston käytävillä.

There was a lot of stuff for sale.

Katsottiin molempina päivinä pari esitelmää, tämä oli 'naamiaiset', joka oli käytännössä kuitenkin naamiaisasujen esittely.

We participated in a couple of programs on both days. This was 'masquerade' even though it was in practice a presentation of costumes.

Tuon jälkeen Prismasta ilta- ja aamupalaa Airbnb-kämppään ja syötiin + pelattiin ilta.

Then to shop for an evening meal and breakfast before going to our Airbnb place. Then a few games. 

Sunnuntaina kiiruhdettiin nimmarijonoon, joka ei ollutkaan kauhea ryysis. Klo 11 mentiin kuuntelemaan Twin Peaks keskustelua.

On Sunday morning we hurried to the autograph queue which wasn't that long. At 11 we checked out a discussion about Twin Peaks. 

Joku Overlord tämä oli. 

This was an Overlord something.

Sain sentään yhden tuntemattomankin tälle vuodelle. Denise lupautui 100 tuntematonta sarjaan.

I got a new participant in my 100 strangers series when Denise let me take her picture.

Toinen keskustelusessio, japanikauppa ja lounas, minkä jälkeen AC/RC-kuoro esitti peli-, tv- ja elokuvamusiikkia. Sitten olikin aika ajaa Pohjanmaalle.

Then one more panel discussion, kids to Japan store, lunch and AC/RC choir presented some game, tv and movie melodies. After that a drive back home.

The railing looked old so I shot a view with it.

Kuumana päivänä Hietsun P-paikka ei ihan riittänyt, vaan sitä jatkettiin lähes Wasalandiaan asti.

On a hot day the beach parking didn't have enough room so they continued the line on the bike path.

Uimassa pulahduksen jälkeen nähtiin Elsa ja käytiin kolmistaan terassilla.

After swimming we met Elsa and the three of us had drinks on a terrace by the sea.

Perjantaista lauantaihin mökillä oli vieraana Noelle ja isosisko Nicole vietti paikalla perjantain. 

From Friday to Saturday we had Noelle at the cottage, Nicole was also there on Friday.

Viikonlopun uusi peli oli Salton Sea, joka oli taas kyllä kiinnostava tapaus. Itse paikka on taas surullinen tapaus.

The new game of the weekend was Salton Sea, which is a good game even though the actual place has a bit of a sad situation nowadays.

Sunnuntai-illalle oli vielä hommana pussitusta.

Bussimatka ja Phnom Penh

Kahden Siem Reap yön jälkeen lähdettiin paikallisbussilla kohti 320 km päässä olevaa pääkaupunkia Phnom Penhiä. Bussissa olikin tiivis tunnelma ja isot laukut piti aina ensin siirtää pois ovelta ennen kuin matkustajat pääsivät ulos.

After two nights in Siem Reap we continued with a local bus towards the capital Phnom Penh. The trip was 320 km (199 mi) so it took most of the day. A tight ride, everybody's luggage needed to be taken out before we could exit the bus.

Matkalla pysähdyttiin muutaman kerran huoltoasemille, joissa oli myytävänä ruokaa ja vaikka mitä.

We stopped a few times during the trip at gas stations which had all kinds of things for sale.

Maisemia riitti, mutta ehdittiin pelaamaankin Hive ja laivanupotus.

There was a lot to see, but we also had time to play a round of Hive and Battleship games.

Pääkaupungin lähestyessä monumentit kasvoivat.

Nearer to the capital the monuments got bigger.

Perillä piti ottaa vielä mopotaksi, joka vei meidän linja-autoasemalta hotellille.

From the bus station we took a moped taxi to get to the hotel.

Perillä saatiin huone viereisestä rakennuksesta, tuolla mahtui nukkumaan.

There we got a room from the second building, a lot of room to sleep. 

Ehdittiin vielä näkemään auringonlasku oman huoneen parvekkeelta.

We had just time to see the sunset from our own balcony. 

Seuraava aamu alkoi aamiaisella.

The next morning started with breakfast.

Oman hotellin uima-allas tuli käyttöön vielä kaupunkikierroksen jälkeen.

The roof pool of our hotel was handy after the day's city walking.

Hotellin hoitama kuski vei meidät keskustaan, ensin ajettiin S-21:een eli Tuol Sleng vankilamuseoon. Katunäkymä:

The hotel got us a moped taxi downtown. We first went to S-21 i.e. Tuol Sleng genocide museum. Here's a view from the street:

Tuo S-21 oli kyllä järkyttävä paikka. Vuosina 1975-79 Punakhmerien aikana tuonne tuotiin 17 000 vankia, joista 7 pääsi ulos hengissä. Viimeiset 14 uhria on haudattu alueen pihaan.

That S-21 was a disturbing place. During 1975-79 was a Khmer Rouge time and this place got about 17 000 prisoners of which 7 got out alive. The last 14 victims are buried here in the yard.

The place was a former school in the capital centre.

Tuon jälkeen jatkettiin pyörimään keskustaan. Ravintolan etsimiseen meni aikaa, mutta kuvattavia maisemia riitti.

After that we continued downtown. It took a while to find a restaurant but there were a lot to look at.

Käveltiin takaisin hotellille joen rannan kautta.

We walked back to the hotel via the riverbank.

Hotellin läheltä tuli pyydettyä Kon Khmer mun 100 tuntematonta sarjaan. Oli nro 64.

Near our hotel I noticed Kon Khmer and he agreed to participate in my 100 strangers project as #64.

Uima-altaalla käydessä kuvasin vielä kohti joen rantaa. Palatsi ja puisto oli kuninkaallista aluetta, jossa ei tullut vierailtua.

When we were at the hotel's pool I shot towards the river. This palace and park was part of the Royal area, where we didn't visit.

Nyt on Kambodzaa julkaistu sopivasti, kaikki 43 kuvaa isoina voi selata täältä albumistaan. Kurkkaan vielä onko videoissa ainesta yhteen kokoomapätkään. Hyvää viikon jatkoa! 🍀

Etelä-Afrikka etenöö

Viikon 45 kuvaksi oli helppo valita viime viikon kuvaan vastanäkymä Pöytävuoren huipulta.

The photo of week 45 was an easy choice. It's an opposite view to the previous week's photo from the top of Table Mountain.

Auto sai olla kämpän parkkitalossa ja otettiin 3pv turistibussiliput, niin sai molemmat katsoa maisemia. Ekan päivän pääkohde oli tuo Pöytävuori. Toisena päivänä ao. Kirstenboschin kasvitieteellinen puutarha.

We left the car at the Parking house and took a three day Hopon-hopoff ticket for easy sightseeing. The first day's main destination was Table Mountain. On the second day we first visited Kirstenbosch botanical garden (below).

Kolmantena päivänä käytiin vielä kanavaristeilyllä, kunhan oli ensin katsottu Zeitz MOCAA, eli nykytaiteen museo. Tuo oli tehty vanhoihin siiloihin ja heti aulasta tuli oikea wau-fiilis.

On the third day we did a canal cruise after we had visited Zeitz MOCAA, i.e. Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. It was built inside old silos and already the lobby gave a big wow-feeling.

Vanhat siilot oli leikattu auki ja niiden ympärillä kuudessa kerroksessa oli näyttelytilat. 

The old silos had been cut open and there were six floors of exhibitions. 

Sunnuntaina lähtiessä ajo-osuudelle käytiin ensin Rhodes memoriaalilla ja siellä sain reissun ekan 100 tuntematonta osallistujan. Scott oli ajamassa vuoren rinteen poluilla pyörällään.

On Sunday we started the roadtrip part by visiting Rhodes memorial. There I got the trip's first participant to my 100 strangers series. Scott was cycling around the paths of Mountain side.

Viikon kuva - San Marino

Pikainen kokoelma viime viikon kuvista. Pääkuvana on tämä näkymä San Marinosta, josta tuli nyt mun 80. vierailtu maa (YK-jäsenvaltioita laskien lkm vasta 77). 

Here's a quick collection of last week's photos. The photo of the week is a scene from San Marino, which became my 80th visited country (UN member visiting counter is 77).

Toinen yö nukuttiin Firenzessä ja ennen jatkoa kurkattiin keskustaa. Ponte Vecchio silta oli hieno!

The second night we slept in Florence and before driving away we visited downtown. Ponte Vecchio bridge was cool!

Pisa oli kätevä vilkaista, kun kunnon parkkipaikka löytyi ihan läheltä. 

Visiting Pisa tower was easy as the parking was handy and it was nearby.

Illaksi ajettiin meren rannalle, jossa majapaikasta oli näkymä tälle sillalle. 

That evening we drove to a place by the sea. Our room had a view of this bridge.

Nyt lauantaista saakka on oltu Roomassa ja tänään sain tuntemattomat nro 73-74 Saskia ja Martien. He ovat 7 viikon pyöräreissulla ja lähteneet Alankomaista. 

Now since Saturday we've been in Rome and today I got participants 73 and 74 to my 100 strangers series. Saskia and Martien are on a 7 week bike trip and started from the Netherlands.
