Viikon kuva - Phu Quoc

Nyt on jo palattu arkeen, mutta viikon kuvat on vielä lähes täysin meidän reissulta. Parasta kuvaa valitessa loppusuoralle tuli rantanäkymät, mutta tämä auringonlasku vei voiton tuosta alempana olevasta kyltillisestä.

We've already returned to Finland but for us last week was still mostly tropical so pics are from the trip.  When choosing the photo of the week I had two beach scenes but this one with the sunset looked better than the latter one with a sign.

Maanantaina oltiin jälkeen jooga-paikan luona ja käytiin auringonlasku-joogaamassa. Nyt oli eri vetäjä, joka oli asunut joitain vuosia Kanadassa.

On Monday we could again participate in beach yoga at sunset. This time we had a different teacher. She had lived some years in Canada.

Vaihdettiin pois täältä Melicasta, koska haluttiin loppupäiviksi meren rantaan. Mutta näitten aamiainen oli kärkipäätä. 

We switched to another hotel to stay on our last days near the sea. But Melica had one of the top breakfasts of our trip.

Viimeinen hotelli oli Phu Quoc Waterfront-alueella ja se oli taas näitä outoja autiokyliä. Ehkä 2-3% rakennuksista oli käytössä, pääosin käveltiin siellä autioiden talojen keskellä.

Our last hotel was located in Phu Quoc Waterfront which was one of those odd empty areas. Maybe 2-3% of the buildings were in use and we walked mostly between empty houses.

Rannassa oli purjehdusseura, jonka ravintolassa käytiin lounaalla. Aurinkotuolit rannassa kuuluivat heille ja päivävuokran sai hoitaa käyttämällä ravintolaa.

This was the Sailing club by the beach. The sun chairs belonged to them and we didn't need to pay for those since we ate our lunch here.

The beach is a popular place for wedding couples to get photos taken.

Yksi Waterfront-alueen kolmesta uima-altaasta. Ja tyhjien rakennusten valaistu kattohuoneisto, jota ihmeteltiin keskenämme.

Vaikka on jäänyt pelit mainitsematta, niin tällainen kolmen kilon satsi oli meillä mukana. Suunnilleen joka päivä pelattiin jotain näistä. 😊

Even though I haven't mentioned board games during the trip, we had a nice 3 kg collection with us. And played something almost every day. 😊

Kohti kotia matkattiin kahtena päivänä. Ensin lennettiin Bangkokiin. Vaikka lento oli toista tuntia myöhässä, niin päivää oli vielä hyvin jäljellä ja lähdettiin käymään keskustan Baiyoke-pilvenpiirtäjässä.

Trip back home took two days. On the first one we flew to Bangkok. Even though the flight was over an hour late, there was still time to do a quick trip to the Baiyoke skyscraper downtown. 

Ensin jokivarren kala-altaan ohi, sitten keskusta-lentoasema -junaradan vierustaa pitkin. 

First over the river and fish kennel, then walking along the downtown-airport train track.

Siirtyminen oli kyllä kätevä - junalla viisi pysäkin väliä ja sitten kaksi korttelia kävelyä tornille. 

Trip there was really handy - just a 15 minute train ride and then walking two blocks to the tower.

Auringonlaskukin teki sentään hiukan väriä. 

We got at least some sunset colors. 

Kambodzhan ja Vietnamin skootteripaljouden jälkeen Bangkokissa oli selvästi enemmän autoja. Ja nehän vievät paljon enemmän tilaa.

After all the scooters in Cambodia and Vietnam we saw clearly that there are much more cars in Thailand. And those really take more space.

Näköalatornin jälkeen otettiin illallinen intialaisessa ravintolassa.

Lopuksi junalla takaisin hotellille. 

And finally a train trip back to our hotel. 

Lähiasemakin oli vaikuttava.

The local train station was impressive too.

Paluumatkalla Hesassa piti olla 2,5h aikaa siirtyä Tikkurilaan. Myöhästymisten takia meille jäi laskeutumisesta tuohon n tunti ja juosten ehdittiin neljässä minuutissa viimeiseen junaan matkalaukkuhihnalta.

Originally we had 2,5 hrs time to get ourselves to train after the landing. But because of the flight being late we had about an hour. We ran in four minutes from the luggage belt to the last train and just made it.

Juna oli onneksi leppoisa tulla kahden hengen hytissä suoraan Vaasaan. Saatiin asemalta kyyti anopilta 🌹. Kotona kaikki kamat yöksi pakkaseen + itse nukkumaan 22h valvomisen jälkeen. Sunnuntai aloitettiin rauhallisesti mukavan Revive-erän merkeissä. Illaksi ajettiin Sulvalle ja Katarina piti kotiintuliais-lättykestit lapsilleen ja lapsenlapsille.

The train ride was an easy one in a private cabin directly to Vaasa. My mother-in-law gave us a ride home. 🌹 Once home we put all the stuff outside for a freezing treatment (-8 C) and went to bed after 22 hrs of staying awake. On Sunday we took it peacefully with a fun round of Revive boardgame. Then to Katarina's home where she did a pancake party for her children and grandchildren.

Viikon kuva - paluu sukellusretkeltä

Meinasi unohtua viikon kuva, kun on niin kiirusta. Tässä sunnuntain sukellusretken päätteeksi koko porukka varusteineen siirtymässä pikkuveneellä rantaan.

I almost forgot to publish the photo of the week as we're so busy vacationing. Here's the group shot after our scuba diving trip on Sunday. This is on the little boat used to leave the trip's ship.

Mutta aloitetaan taas viikon alusta. Maanantaina siirryttiin Coco Garden resorttiin, jossa olikin hiljaista. 

But first to the beginning of the week. On Monday we moved to Coco Garden resort, which was a quiet place.

Hotellin viereinen silta toi jotenkin mieleen Bond-leffan Kultainen ase.

The little bride there reminded me of Man with the Golden Gun - Bond-movie.

Hotellilla on oma ranta vartijoineen, ja sielläkin oltiin välillä täysin kaksistaan. 

The hotel has its own beach with guards. We were also there occasionally alone.

Uskaltauduttiin taas skootteroimaan, kun se kuitenkin kätevin keino liikkua. Hyvin meni!

Since a scooter is the most handy way to move around, we dared to try it again. All went fine!

Keskiviikkona ajettiin pohjoiseen meritähtirannalle. Siellä tosiaan näitä satoja ihan rannassa.

On Wednesday we drove to the northern beach to see Star fish. There were really hundreds of these along the shore.

Muutenkin hieno paikka, vaikka paljon roskaa.

A nice place all in all. Just too much plastic trash.

Palatessa käytiin lounaalla täällä.

We ate lunch here on our way back to the hotel.

Lounaan jälkeen kurkattiin viereinen pikku temppeli.

But first a quick visit to a temple near-by.

The moment kids got out of school created a bit more traffic.

Torstaina ajettiin ensin snorklaamaan ja sen jälkeen katsomaan Grand World -ostaria. Uskomaton paikka - valtava alue lähes täysin tyhjillään. 

On Thursday we did some snorkeling and then drove to see the Grand World -mall. Amazing place - a huge area but almost all buildings were unused. 

Perjantaina tehtiin ajoreissu saaren keskuskaupunkiin. Matkalla käytiin kurkkaamassa Ocean Bayn jännä patsas.

On Friday we did a road trip to the island's central town. Here's an odd statue by Ocean Bay resort that we peeked at quickly.

Keskustassa käveltiin hetken katsomassa valokuvanäyttelyä ja tätä temppeliä.

A brief walk downtown to see the photo gallery in the park by the harbour and this temple.

Pääkohteena oli näköalapaikka, joka hoitui kätevästi ravintolan terassilla vieraillen. Otettiin samalla pizza lounaaksi.

The main destination was a sightseeing place, but we got first to a restaurant and watched the scenery while having a pizza lunch.

Lauantaina siirryttiin kolmanteen paikkaan ja sitten sunnuntaina mainitulle sukellusretkelle. Matkalla näkyi Hon Thom gondolireitti - tuo on maailman pisin ja pakko-vierailukohde. Se vain on 'huollossa' 19.9. - 19.12. ☹️ (laivalla yks sanoi, että liian vähän turisteja)

On Saturday we moved to our third hotel. Then one the next day earlier mentioned diving trip. Here's Hon Thom cable car - world's longest and a must-visit. Too bad that it's on 'maintenance' on Sep19-Dec19. ☹️ (on the boat one guy said that there's not enough tourists visiting so that's the reason it's closed)

Näitä valtavia tyhjillään olevia alueita on ainakin kolme. Kaikki nämä rakennukset on rakennettu miljoonia kiinalaisia turisteja varten, mutta Covid-19 taisi sotkea suunnitelmat. 

We've seen three huge empty building areas on the island. All these were built for millions of Chinese tourists but I suppose Covid-19 crashed that plan.

Ja sitten vihdoin päästään retkelle. Tässä Katarina odottelee, että pääsee snorklaamaan.

Mulla mukana taas insta360-kamera tikun päässä ja tuo on kyllä kätevä. Koska kotelo rupesi meritähti-rannalla vuotamaan, niin ostin varmuudeksi kuvat myös sukelluksen vetäjältä.

I had my insta360 camera with the stick again. It's really handy, but since the case started to leak on the starfish beach I also bought photos from the dive guide.

Viikon kuva - Tomb Raider-temppeli

Viikon kuvana on näkymä eniten odottamastani Siem Reabin temppelistä, eli Ta Prohm:sta. Tuo on kuuluisin ainakin ekan Tomb Raider leffan kuvauspaikkuudesta. 

The photo of the week is from my most anticipated Siem Reap temple i.e. Ta Prohm. This is famous for being a set of one part of the first Tomb Raider movie.

Toisena käytiin Angkor Watissa. Lippu olisi kattanut kaikki alueen 10+ temppeliä, mutta jätettiin vain näihin kahteen. Tämä jälkimmäinen oli valtavan kokoinen ja kuuluisin näistä. Tuon kolme tornia löytyvät jopa maan lipusta.

Our second temple was Angkor Wat. Our ticket would have covered all over 10 temples in the area but we didn't want to do too much. This latter was really big and the most famous of these - it's even in the flag of Cambodia.

Tiistaina siirryttiin bussilla Phnom Penhiin, viisi tuntia ja paljon maisemia. Ehdittiin sentään ihailemaan auringonlaskua omalta parvekkeelta.

On Tuesday we travelled to Phnom Penh by a five hour bus trip. A lot to see and we managed to see the sunset from our room's balcony.

Keskiviikon pääkohteena oli karmiva muistomerkki Kambodzan kansanmurhasta. Tuol Slengin vankila, jonka koodinimi oli S-21 on nyt museona. Alla pihalle haudatut vankilan viimeiset 14 uhria, jotka löytyivät vietnamilaisten saapuessa paikalle. 

The main visiting place on Wednesday was Tuol Sleng prison (code name S-21) which is now a genocide museum. In the yard there are graves of the last 14 victims. They were found by Vietnamese soldiers who freed Cambodia from Khmer Rouge.

Paikka oli alunperin koulu. Näitä kidutuskammioina olleita huoneita oli A-rakennuksessa. 

The place was originally a school. These torture rooms were in building A.

Tuolla oli ollut n 18 000 vankia, joista 12 selvisi hengissä ulos. Kaksi näistä istui nyt kierroksen loppusuoralla allekirjoittamassa myynnissä olevia muistelmateoksiaan. Koko maassa punakhmerit aiheuttivat jopa 1-2 miljoonan ihmisen kuoleman.

There had been about 18 000 prisoners and 12 of them survived. Two of them sat at the end of the museum circle and signed their memoirs. During those years the Khmer Rouge caused about 1-2 million deaths. 

Torstaina siirryttiin Vietnamin puolelle Phu Quoc-saarelle. Koristelaiva meidän omasta rannasta.

On Thursday we flew to Phu Quoc island in Vietnam. Here's a decoration on our hotel's beach.

Majoitukseen kuului päivittäinen jooga-tunti auringonlaskun aikaan. Kahdesti päästiin mukaan, kolmaskin olisi onnistunut, mutta respa sanoi virheellisesti ettei sunnuntaisin olisi tuntia.

The accommodation included a daily yoga lesson at sunset time. We participated twice, could have done a third time too but reception said wrongly that there's no lessons on Sundays.

Sunnuntaina otettiin vietnamilainen hieronta. Aluksi jalat kuumaan veteen. 

On Sunday evening we took a Vietnamese massage. First feet to a hot water bath.

Sitten hierontasänkyihin tunniksi. Olipa rentouttavaa!

Then a relaxing hour at massage beds.
