Ja sitten vuorossa meidän Ylläksen viikon kuvia. Tässä Äkäslompolon puolella mäki näkyvissä. 

Now it's time for the photos of our Lapland week. Here is the top of Ylläs from the Northern side.

Ekalla toisella puolella käynnillä hiihdettiin Velhonkotaan, jossa Katarina ei ollutkaan aiemmin käynyt. Siellä katto onkin koristeellinen:

On our first visit to the other side of the mountain we skied to Velhonkota as Katarina had not visited it previously. The place has a nice roof:

Kelit oli hiihtämiseen just passelit - alkupuolella aamusta oli jotain -12C ja pelattiin aamupäivät. Sitten iltapäivällä kun oli jotain -4C niin olikin hyvä hetki käydä hiihtämässä.

We had perfect weather for xc skiing. During the first four days it was around -12C (10F) in the morning and we played a game. Then it was already afternoon and -4C (25F) so just nice temperature for skiing.

Peleistä tämä Glass Road oli toinen ihan uusi tapaus. Tuossa on taas ihan omanlaisensa resurssien hallinta, joka laittoi miettimään.

The second new to us games for the week was Glass Road. This has a totally new style for resource management and again required a lot of thinking.

Keskiviikkona lähdettiin lumikengillä Kuertunturin huipulle 7 km. Seurattiin valmiita jälkiä ja eksyttiin viralliselta reitiltä edellisiä jälkiä seuratessa - tuli normireitin päälle n. 500m ylimääräistä tarpomista paksussa hangessa. Mutta maisemat oli komeat!

On Wednesday we did a snow shoe walk to the top of Kuertunturi for 7 km (4,4mi). We started on the official route but previous walkers didn't follow it and unfortunately we followed them. A 500m (0,3mi) additional walk in thick snow but great views!

Ylös oli kuitenkin selkeä suunnata ja maisemia rupesi löytymään.

But it was easy to head upwards and we started to see some scenery.

Lopuksi löydettiin se oikea merkitty polku ja jatkettiin vähän helpommin.

Eventually we found the official path again and it was easier to go on.

Pilvet haittas itse Ylläksen näkymistä, mutta Äkäslompolon järvi ja kylä näkyi kivasti.

We couldn't see the top of Ylläs due to the clouds but Äkäslompolo lake and village were nicely visible.

Torstaina oli mäkipäivä.

Thursday was snowboarding day.

Lähes koko päivän oli hieno keli.

We had perfect weather almost all day.

Pilviä kulki välillä rinteen ohi ja silloin mentiin hetki kuin sumussa.

There were occasional clouds going by the hillside so then we were skiing in 'clouds'.

Perjantaina oli viikon luistavin keli. Hiihdettiin Lainiolle ja vedettiin kaikkiaan vähän yli 20km. Välipalan jälkeen kävin kurkkaamassa lumilinnan.

The best slide conditions happened on Friday. We skied to Lainio and back a bit over 20 km (12,4mi). After the snack there I visited the Snow village.

Siellä oli nyt juhlavuosi ja teemana oli eri puolilta maailmaan erilaisia juhlia.

This year's theme was anniversary and they depicted different festivals from around the world.

Suomi mainittu!

For Finland they had famous buildings and a famous meme of a guy without shirt celebrating Finland's first hockey world championship. There's a saying 'torille' that means we should all go to the market square to celebrate whenever Finland is mentioned somewhere.

The ice slide ends next to this ice gondola. I'll soon publish a video about somebody sliding it.

Kiinalainen uusi vuosikin mainittiin.

The Chinese New Year had its own room.

Teknopöllön silmissä oli pyörivät diskovalot. Jääkaiuttimet oli vain koristeena, piilossa oli oikeat kaiuttimet.

The disco room had spinning lights as the eyes of the techno owl. Those big speakers were just a decoration but the real ones were hidden.

Lauantaina hiihdettiin Aurinkotuvalta Luosujärvelle.

On Saturday we skied 12 km (7,5mi) to this restaurant.

Hiihtolomaa kohti

Viikon 8 kuvana on taas meidän valokuvauskerhon hallituksen pystyttämä Vuoden kuva näyttely. Ja nyt tuli 15 kuvaa enemmän kuin viime vuonna!

The photo of week 8 is again our photo club's yearly gallery that I set up with other guys. We got 15 more photos than last year!

Viikon 9 kuva taitaa myös olla lähes sama kuin parina viime vuotena. Ajettiin Ylläkselle ja aloitettiin sunnuntaina hiihtelyt. 

Week 9's photo may also be almost the same as in some previous years. We drove to Lapland and started skiing daily.

Takaisin Vaasaan. Tuli käytyä pitkästä aikaa Bock'sissa. Siellä oli vielä ihan jouluinen tunnelma.

Back to Vaasa. I visited Bock's brewery, it's been a while. They still had a Holiday season atmosphere.

Pidettiin siellä After work -tapaaminen, mukava ilta. 

We had an After work meeting. A nice evening.

Perjantaina ajettiin Seinäjoelle näyttämään äiteelle Pollea. Ja käytiin syömässä lempipaikassaan.

On Friday we drove to Seinäjoki to show my new car to my mother. And had lunch in her favourite restaurant.

Seinäjoelta ajettiin viikonlopuksi Bergööseen. Metsä näytti jo kevättalvisen valoisalta.

From there we drove to Katarina's cottage for the weekend. The forest looked almost like Spring'y light.

Seuraavalla viikolla aloitin Lapin reissun valmistelut valitsemalla mukaan otettavat pelit. Ja ekan kerran tällä vuosituhannella unohdin ottaa mukaan oikean kameran ja oon vain kännykän varassa!

Next week I started preparing for the Lapland trip by first choosing the games. And for some reason for the first time I forgot to take a real camera so now I'm here with just a mobile phone camera.

Tiistaina jumpan jälkeen näkyi jännä auringonlasku Vaskiluodon takaa. Hiukan myöhästyin kirkkaimmasta kohdasta.

On Tuesday after the fitness training I spotted a nice sunset. I slightly missed the brightest moment.

Keskiviikkona tuli käytyä kauden varmaan ainoa meren jäällä hiihtely. Ylläksellä on kyllä käyty jo kerran järven jäällä.

On Wednesday I got probably the only sea ice skiing of this season. At Ylläs we've already skied on the lake ice.

Lauantai-iltana perillä mökillä. Hienoja tykkylumisia puita täynnä kaikki tienoot.

We arrived to the cottage on Saturday evening. There are nice snowy trees everywhere.

Kamat autosta lämpimään mökkiin ja pari erää District Noiria ennen nukkumaan menoa.

We had a warm cottage waiting so just carried the stuff in and took a couple of rounds of District Noir before bedtime.

Sunnuntaina aamusta oli mökin ikkunasta nätin näköistä, mutta odotettiin puoleen päivään, että lämpeni mukavaan -5C tasoon.

On Sunday the view from the cottage window was nice, but we waited until noon so that the temperature rose to nice -5 C (23 F).

Odotellessa ensipuraisu Glen More -peliä. Ihan hyvä pikkutapaus! 

While waiting we took our first round of Glen More. It's a really good little game.

Sitten matkaan tuon yhteisposeerauksen jälkeen.

There's a lot to shoot everywhere.

Ekana päivänä mentiin Ylläsjärven kylään järven yli kiertäen. Rinteet näkyi taas hienosti, ei tosiaankaan eka kerta tätä kuvaa julkaistuksi, mutta kertaus on...

On the first day we skied to Ylläs lake to make a round trip. The downhill skiing slopes were nicely visible (certainly not the first pic of this scenery).

Hyvin lähti käytiin hiihtelyt, 14,5 km ekana päivänä.

We started our skiing well, 14,5 km (9 mi) on the first day.

Viikon kuva - Pitkästä aikaa

Oltiin Ylläksen viikko aika rauhassa, mutta sentään kerran tuli sosialisoitua. Käytiin pizzalla serkkulikan ja perheensä kanssa! Olikin mukavaa nähdä pitkästä aikaa. 😊

We spent our week in Lapland mostly in the cottage but at least once we got to see people. That was a pizza date with my cousin and her family. It was nice to see them as the previous time was a long time ago. 😊

Maanantaina hiihdettiin Lainiolle, mutta paikka oli suljettu jo 6.4. Harmi kun oli näköjään investoitu uuteen ravintolaosaankin.

On Monday we skied to Snow Village but it was already closed. Too bad it happened this early as they had even built a new restaurant expansion.

Lumilinna oli suljettu, mutta takana olikin avonainen oviaukko. Hieno paikka taas!

The Snow castle was naturally closed, but the backdoor was open. A cool place again!

Tuossa yo. jääalttarilla oli ollut ehkä jokin palju, koska sinne meni portaat ja kuopassa oli sähköjohto. Huoneessa oli muutenkin upeat seinät:

I guessed that maybe there was a kind of jacuzzi on that altar, since there were stairs leading there and an electric cord. The walls of that room were amazing:

Toisessa huoneessa oli merenneito ja delfiini.

One other room had a mermaid and a dolphin.

Käytävä peremmälle oli jännä. Siellä oli esim täysjäinen läpinäkyvä pitkä liukumäki.

The hallway forward was exciting. There was for example a long see-through ice slide.

Mökillä pelattiin kolmea uutta ja kolmea vanhaa peliä yhteensä 16 erää. Paris: Ville Lumiére oli ihan hyvä pisteoptimointi tapaus.

During the week we played three new games and three old ones, all in all 16 rounds. Paris: Ville Lumiére was a nice point optimization case.

Hupikisana kokeiltiin tuoksujen tunnistamista. Tasapeli.

A fun test was to recognise different scents. It was a draw.

Tiistaina käytiin Äkäslompolon puolella ja hiihdettiin Kesängin kahvilaan. Tuolla puolella riittää kuvaksellisempia kohtia.

On Tuesday we visited the other side of the mountain. They have more photogenic scenery.

Viidestä hiihtelypäivästä neljänä oli aurinkoa, vaikka alunperin säätiedotus näytti huonolta.

On Sunday evening it looked like a cloudy week, but eventually on 4/5 days we had sunny skies.

Keskiviikkona kierrettiin Aurinkotuvalta rinki yläkautta. Näillä tienoilla nähtiin Anna-Maja Henriksson. 

On Wednesday we skied another 12 km round trip and saw a famous Finnish politician on the tracks.

Muutaman päivänä käytiin kävelyllä. Tiet olivat saapumispäivän jälkeen aika surkeassa kunnossa.

On some of  the days we also walked. The roads were pretty lousy after the arrival day.

Torstaina ennen pizzaa oli kävellessä niin lämmin, että tuli otettua takkikin pois. Tuona päivänä pidettiin lepoa hiihtelystä.

On Thursday before the pizza it was so warm that I had to remove my jacket. That was our resting day between the xc skiing trips.

Perjantaina oli ainoa hiihtely ilman aurinkoa. Ylläksen huippu olisi pitänyt näkyä tuossa taustalla. 

Friday was the only day without sunshine. The top of Ylläs mountain should have been visible behind the trees.

Kahvikeitaan kahvilan pitäjä kantoi jo herännyttä ja kahvilan lämpöön hakeutuvaa kyykäärmettä kauemmas.

The coffee shop owner carried a venomous snake a bit further away from the building. They started to wake up after the Winter.

Välillä tuli ihan vesihiihtofiiliksiä.

It was the wettest skiing day.

Mäkeen meno jäi välistä ekaa kertaa tällä vuosituhannella ja vuokrattiin sen sijaan sähköläskipyörät. 

First time in this millennium I didn't do downhill skiing but we rented electric fat bikes.

Parin kilsan kohdalla oli 40cm syvä sulamisvesipaikka ja Katarina plumas nilkkoja myöten! 😬 Märät sukat vaihtui roskapusseihin ja jalan pohjaan pahvilautaset suojaamaan kylmiltä kengiltä. 

Already in the beginning of the route Katarina got her feet wet to ankle height as snow was melting and streamed over the path! 😬 Here wet socks are changed to plastic backs and paper plates covered sole of the feet.

Mäkin kaaduin kerran vinolla jäällä. Mutta pääosin mukava rinki. 

Also I fell once on a diagonal ice part. But otherwise a nice round.

Parin tunnin jälkeen rupesi paikat pehmenemään liikaa, niin mentiin pari viimeistä kilsaa asfalttia pitkin. Mukava oli tuota testata!

After a couple of hours the snow started to get soft so we drove the last two+ kilometres on asphalt. It was nice to test this activity.

Katarinalla kesti kuutisen tuntia lämmetä takaisin kylmien kenkien jälkeen. Lämpimikseen sitten voitti mut Meadow-pelissä.

It took six hours for Katarina to get warm after wearing wet shoes, so she warmed up by beating me in the Meadow. 

Sunnuntaina ajettiin takas Vaasaan. Joka lataustauolla tuli käytyä kävelyllä - nyt näki ekaa kertaa vähän Ylitornion keskustaakin:

On Sunday we drove back to Vaasa. Now we did a walk on every charging break. I finally got to see, for example, downtown Ylitornio.

Oulun Kaakkurissa oli ovela koriste koulun portilla.

Kalajoella käytiin kurkkaamassa kylpylän nurkat.

Ja hiekkasärkillä ei ollut enää yhtään talvifiilistä. 

And sand dunes there. It didn't feel like Winter anymore.

Getting closer to home.

Oravaisissa vessakäynti ja 8 minuutin pikalataus. KAJ näkyi täälläkin.

An 8 minute toilet and charging break near Vaasa. And KAJ was known there too.

Vältyttiin iltapuurolta, kun matkalla saatiin kutsu Elsalta käydä iltapalalla valmiissa pöydässä. Samalla sai näyttää viikon kuvat.

We avoided oatmeal at home as Elsa invited us to her place and we got a nice supper. And I got to show the photos of our week.
