Viikon kuva - Huvilakauden päättäjäiset / vielä on kesää jäljellä

Viikon kuva jatkaa rauhaisaa merifiilistä. Huvilakauden päättäjäisten iltana auringonlaskun aikaan käytiin ringillä kajakeilla. Tyyni meri, ilotulitteet ja auringonlaskun jälkeiset rauhalliset näkymät oli mainio tauko kesken cowboy-pelin.

The photo of the week continues the peaceful sea feeling of last week. Last weekend coastal Finland celebrated the end of cottage season. We had a nice and beautiful kayaking session after the sunset in the middle of a cowboy game.

Mutta viikon alkuun. Maanantaina loppui taas firmajumpan kesätauko ja sain palattua taas viikottaiseen tapaan. Tätä pitää jatkaa!

But first to the beginning of the week. Company's weekly sports hour was on Summer break but now it's back. I need to continue this again!

Viikon uutena pelinä oli korkealle arvostettu, eli Great Western Trail (linkki on 1-versiosta, mulla ver2). Opettelin sääntöjä viikolla ja kun perillisiltä löytyi osaamista, niin otettiin perjantaina harjoittelukierros. Onneksi aloitettiin jo ennen Artturin nukkumaan menoa, koska tuo kesti lähes kuusi tuntia. Mutta on kyllä hyvä! 👍🏻 Pelattiin tätä sitten Katarinan kanssa kaks erää ja ne hienosti 1-1. Pelissä ollaan villin lännen karjatilallisia ja voidaan joko keskittyä lehmien hankkimiseen, rakennusten rakentamiseen tai junalla matkaamiseen. Toki kaikkea kannattaa tehdä ainakin jonkin verran, muuten ei pärjää. Linkin takaa kunnon selitys pelistä.   

The new game of the week was Great Western Trail. I studied the rules during the week evenings and since my daughter and son-in-law knew the game we took a testing round on Friday. Fortunately, we started before grandson went to bed as it took almost six hours. But a good game! 👍🏻 During the weekend I played two rounds more with Katarina and the result was 1-1. In the game you are a wild west rancher. You can buy and sell cows, build buildings or travel by train. Usually it's good to do at least some amount of everything to get enough points (the first action is a must though). More explanation of the game is behind the link. 

Viikonloppuna huomasi, että vielä on kesää jäljellä, kun nurmikko vielä kasvaa.

During the weekend we noticed that there's still Summer left as the lawn kept growing.

Melontareissu oli kyllä rauhoittavaa hiljaisuuden kuuntelua. Hyttyset tosin jaksoi lentää aika ärsyttävän kauan mukana. 

The kayaking session was peaceful listening to the silence. Although mosquitos managed to fly along for an annoyingly long time. 

Kuvia otettiin useampikin, kun maisemat oli niin hienot.

SusuPetalin innoittamana vähän heviä peliin. Paljoa en oo bändiä kuunnellut, mutta tämä Black Sabbathin Paranoid on kyllä klassikko.

It's been a while but since I got a reminder here's for a change a quick Saturday classic. I haven't listened to Black Sabbath a lot but this Paranoid is a Classic.

Viikon kuva - Hiljaisuus yössä

Viikon kuva on vähän vastakohtaa edelliselle. Silloin ympärillä oli tungosta ja menoa, nyt hiljaisuutta ja muutama väri. Olin viikonloppua mökillä ja auringonlaskun aikaan Katarina oli jo aloittanut yövuoronsa, joten lähin ihminen oli vähintään puolen kilsan päässä. 

The photo of the week is the opposite of last week's pic. Then I was in the middle of the crowd, colours and sounds. Now just silence and warm colour. I visited Katarina's cottage and at this moment she had already gone to work for night so the nearest person was probably almost half a kilometre away.

Viikolla Citarin käynnillä näkyi musisointia.

While walking to do some evening shopping I saw a band.

Viikonlopun uusi peli on maailmanlistan #59 ja oli tosiaan hauska tapaus. Räävelin Rohtotohtorit -pelistä löytyy hyvä kuvaus linkin takaa, mutta lyhyesti kerrottuna tuossa tehdään pussin rakennusta, eli kerätään itselle hyvä sekoitus nappeja. Niitä poimitaan ja täytetään pataa + yritetään olla räjäyttämättä keitosta. Yhdeksän kierroksen ajan edetään pisteradalla ja lopuksi eniten pisteitä kerännyt on voittaja. Selvä 👍🏻

The new board game of the weekend was The Quacks of Quedlinburg. It's #59 on BGGs world list and a really fun game. You'll find better explanations behind the link but in short: you're collecting different ingredients to your bag. Then on each of nine rounds those are picked and set to the potion. And wish that it doesn't explode. When the game ends whoever has the most points wins. Simple and enjoyable 👍🏻

Viikon kuva - Taiteiden yössä

Viikon kuvana otos torstaisen Taiteiden yön paraatista. Oma kierros kesti vain n. 1,5h mutta näin silti ihan mukavasti.

The photo of the week is from the parade at the Night of the Arts. My round took about 1,5 hrs but I got to see quite a much.

Aloitin kurkkaamalla Bergöstä purjehtinutta viikinkivenettä ja sen porukkaa. Tuo vene olikin viime kesänä viikon kuvana ja linkin takana parempi näkymä siitä + lisätietoa.

I started my walk at a Viking boat and its crew that had sailed from Bergö. The boat was the photo of the week 14 months ago and there's better pics and more info of it behind this link.

Perjantaina oli töistä iltapäivällä tyky-tapahtuma: urheilullisuutta ja päivällinen. Tässä mun tiimikavereita seuraamassa johtajaa.

On Friday we had a nice work event with sports and early dinner. Here are guys from my team following me.

Lauantaina mentiin Katarinan kanssa testaamaan kajakkeja Suvilahden kajakkilaiturilta. 

On Saturday we tested kayaks here in Vaasa. There's a handy pier built specially for this purpose.

Oli aikamoinen tuuli ja aallot vei heti sivuttain, mutta onnistuin ottamaan selfienkin. Matkaa tuli vain n. 1,5km ja käytiin välillä rannassa pitämässä evästauko.

The wind and waves were much stronger than on my previous two times. We only went for about a mile and visited the shore in between to have a lunch break.

Lauantai-illaksi pyöräiltiin Ukkokarille tutustumaan paikkaan ja kuuntelemaan Jesse Kaikurantaa. Pirjo ja Seppo olivat mukavana seurana.

For Saturday evening we bicycled to a restaurant that's located on a small island. We had friends there to chat with. A nice visit!

Sunnuntaina ennen Mariannen synttäripizzoittelua käytiin uudessa Graffitilandiassa. 

On Sunday before Marianne's birthday pizza party we visited the new Graffitilandia.

Lapsuudessa näkyi laudalle naulojen väliin langalla tehtyjä koristeita. Tämä oli samaa mutta satakertaisena.

I remember from my childhood a decoration done with strings on nails. This was similar but 100 times more.

Pizzoittelun jälkeen Artturi 'pääsi' hiusten leikkuuseen, mutta ei oikein tykännyt asiasta. Vaikka mä oli mallina, että miten helposti se sujuu. 

After pizza Artturi got some hair cut but this time he didn't like it. Even though I sat there first as a sample of how easy it was.

Viikonlopun isompana uutena pelinä oli Tiny Epic Vikings. Tässä on enemmän taistelua kuin aiemmissa sarjan peleissä Galaxies ja Pirates, koska ne ovat enemmänkin kilpa-ajoa voittoehdon keruussa. Ainoa pisteiden lähde on saada riimuja, joten saaria pitäisi saada vallattua vastustajilta ja lisäksi voittaa taisteluja riimukorteista. Kaiken tuon tekemiseen vaaditaan puuta, rautaa ja ruokaa. Niitä onneksi saa parista paikasta, mutta kortit pitää pelata oikeassa järjestyksessä. Jännä peli taas!

The new bigger board game of the weekend was Tiny Epic Vikings. This one contains more fighting than the other two of the series that I have (Galaxies & Pirates). The other ones are more like a race to gather points for victory. The only way to get points are those runes on islands and cards, so you need to conquer islands and win battles of the cards. And doing all that requires steel, wood and food. There are ways to acquire those but you need to play your cards in the right order. An exciting game again!

Viikon kuva - autokuume

Viikon jännittävin tapahtuma oli tiistain autokaupat. Edellinen kerta oli 6v sitten ja nyt tuli hankittua eka sähköauto (Peugeot e2008). 

The most exciting thing last week was me buying a car on Tuesday. The previous time was 6 years ago and now I got my first e-car (Peugeot e2008).

Maanantaina töihin mennessä olivat jo pystyttämässä Vaasa Festivalin lavaa yms.

The building of Vaasa Festival had started already on Monday morning.

Käytiin festareilla torstaina, ihan aluksi mukana oli Katarinan työkaveri Tanja.

We visited the festival only on Thursday. In the very beginning we were with Katarina's work mate Tanja.

Käärijä nähty livenä. 

Everybody in Finland knows this guy (as well as many in Europe). He's the moral winner of the Eurovision song contest 2023 (people i.e. non professionals voted for him). He gave a good show in Vaasa.

Jo ennen Käärijää mukaan liittyi vielä kolme muutakin Katarinan työkaveria. 

And already before the first show three more of Katarina's work mates joined us. 

Carola Häggkvist oli illan toinen kova sana. Tuosta kultaisesta asusta taisi oikeat fanit jo tunnistaa tulevan kappaleen.  

Carola Häggkvist was the other big star for the evening. Her fans knew the oncoming song already according to this costume.

Perjantaina siirryin töiden jälkeen mökille tyylikkään äänettömästi ja saatiin upeat kelit koko viikonlopuksi. Lauantaina tuli yökylään Pekka ja Kati. Mukava oleskelua, ulkoilua, saunomista, syömistä ja pelaamista. Ehdittiin pelata Coup x 2, Azul Summer Pavilion, Rummikub x 2, Da Vinci Code, Ohanami ja Luxor.

On Friday I drove silently with style to Katarina's cottage. We got really good weather for the whole weekend. On Saturday Pekka and Kati joined us. We had a nice time to hang around, walk, eat, swim/sauna and of course board games! We played Coup x 2, Azul Summer Pavilion, Rummikub x 2, Da Vinci Code, Ohanami ja Luxor.

Sunnuntai-iltana kotiin palattuani kurkkasin vielä siilojen uusimman tilanteen. 

On Sunday evening after getting home I peeked at the situation with the silos.
