Amsterdam by boat

Ollaan nyt 27 tuntia matkalla kohti Malesiaa, mutta vielä pikainen piipahdus Amsterdamiin viime lokakuulta. Viimeisenä koko päivänä ohjelmana oli ensin kävely läheiseen Frankendaelin puistoon (albumissa sieltä viisi kuvaa).

Päivän pääohjelma oli kanavaristeily, jolle tuli mukaan meidän matkan innoittaja Tarjan kummityttö Maaret poikakaverinsa kanssa. Tämä taisi olla itselleni kolmas näitä, mutta ihan mukavia ovat olleet joka kerta. Tässä se pitkä kaikkien riesteilyjen klassinen siltasuora:

We're currently on our 27 hr journey to Malaysia, but here's a short peek to Amsterdam last October. On the last whole day, we first walked to a nearby Frankendael park (the album contains five photos from there).

The main event of the day was a canal cruise which we took with Maaret and her boyfriend. She's Tarja's goddaughter and the reason for our trip. This was my third Amsterdam canal cruise but they all have been nice. Here's the long classic bridge row from all canal cruises:

The old lift bridges that are still in some places look always interesting.

Firmana oli Amsterdamin suomalaiset facebook-ryhmässä suositeltu Friendship-firma, joka on paikallinen, sopivan hintainen ja laadukas. Jutut kerrotaan livenä, eikä persoonattomalla nauhoituksella ja mukana oli sopivasti huumoria. Eli suosittelen! 👍 Veneen päädystä löytyi lokoisia paikkoja, mutta kuskin lähellä kuulee paremmin. 

The company is Friendship which we found as a recommended canal cruise provided in Finns of Amsterdam Facebook group. It's locally owned with good quality and price. The guidance is live and not a ready-made recording. Some nice humour is included so I can surely recommend them! 👍 There are comfy places in front but it's easier to hear everything near the driver.

Kierroksen jälkeen syötiin lounas Amsterdamin parhaassa hampurilaispaikassa. Loppupäivä kuljettiin taas kahdestaan ja mentiin kurkkaamaan rannan uusi kirjasto. Moderni jännä rakennus:

We had lunch in the best hamburger restaurant in Amsterdam and then just the two of us continued exploring the city. The new library near Central station is an exciting modern building:

Kirjaston ylimmän kerroksen parvelta oli hienot näkymät ranta-alueelle. Tässä viereinen tiedekeskus Nemo. Tuonne Nemon katolle saa muuten kävellä ihan ilmaiseksi.

On the top floor of the library, there's a balcony with great views over the area. Here's the next-door science centre Nemo. Access to the roof of Nemo is free and there are also nice views.
