South Korea / Etelä-Korea

Tervetuloa sinnekin!

Vahdinvaihto temppelin sisäänkäynnillä:

I planned to process South Korea photos next but seems that I had done that already. Previous blog articles of Seoul are here. Since I haven't published any South Korea pics for a while I now added 30 new photos to the album. Welcome there too!

Soulissa oli kaduilla mukavan paljon nykytaidetta - toinen silmiinpistävä erikoisuus oli perinnepuvut, joita monet käyttivät. Ja suostuivat aina poseeraamaan helposti:

A nice thing in Seoul was those numerous contemporary art statues etc. that were on display around the city. Another thing that we noticed was that many liked to use the traditional colourful dress. And they easily agreed to pose for a photographer:

Yet another traditional dress group

In a temple we were interviewed by a student who was making a thesis about traditional dresses. She asked if we were interested in buying one for a souvenier and how much we would be ready to pay etc.

We stayed in an airbnb apartment near the main station, so it was really convenient to arrive from / leave to airport and also for daily trips.

Our apartment in 28th floor

Asunto oli 28. kerroksessa, joten näkymiä oli mukava kurkkia valoisaan ja pimeään aikaan:
It was the 28th floor so the view was a really good one:

A night view from our room

Ensimmäisen vieraillun temppelin alueella oli hauskasti myös 'eurooppalaistyylinen' rakennus. Korean keisari oli kuulemma pyytänyt arkkitehdin Venäjältä suunnittelemaan rakennuksen.
The first temple that we visited had also a nice European style building. The emperor had hired an architect from Russia to design it.

Yksi päivä vietettiin Gwacheon -puistossa, jossa oli eläintarha, huvipuisto, nykytaiteen museo ja paljon muuta katseltavaa. Samalla pysäkillä radan toisella puolella oli lisäksi paikallinen Heureka, jossa oltiin niin viime tinkaan (30 min ennen sulkemista), että päästiin vilkaisemaan sisään ilmaiseksi.

Alueella tuli testattua hauska rapeaksi uppopaistettu spiraaliperuna:
One of our day trip destinations was Gwacheon park, which contained a zoo, an amusement park, a contemporary art museum and much more. In addition to those there was a science museum at that same train stop. We were there just 30 mins before closing so they let us look the place for free.

In the park we also tested a fun snack - deep fried crunchy spiral potato:

Soulissa olisi kiinnostanut osallistua myös retkelle DMZ-alueelle, mutta ainoa meille sopiva päivä olikin poikkeuksellisesti arkipyhä, joten retkeä ei järjestetty sinä päivänä. Toinen kiinnostava paikka olisi ollut etelärannikon Jeju-saari.

Kaikki Soul-kuvat löytyvät siis omasta albumistaan täältä. Tervetuloa!
One thing that we would have wanted to do was to participate to DMZ trip. Unfortunately the only day that was possible for us was a national holiday and they didn't arrange trips. Another interesting place would have been Jeju island.

All Seoul photos are in this album. Welcome!
