Viikon kuva - Toinen lomaviikko

Viikon kuvaksi olisi taas sopinut parikin eri kuvaa mun toiselta lomaviikolta, mutta tämä miellytti eniten taiteellista silmää. Stundarssin museon aluetta perjantaisella kierroksella.

I had again a few different photos that would have been the photo of the week but this one was best to my artistic eye. The Stundars museum's area on our Friday's visit.

Keskiviikkona pyöräiltiin Bergön kalasatamaan länsirannalle. 

On Wednesday we did a bicycle trip to Bergö fishing harbor on the western part of the island.

Meillä on selvästi omat vahvat pelimme - tämä Splendor Marvel meni taas Katarinalle voitollisesti kahdesti putkeen. Kyseessä on koneistonrakennusta sisältävä kilpajuoksu, että kumpi saa ensin 16 pistettä ja muut voittoehdot täyteen. Mukava peli kuitenkin!

We've noticed that always the same games are stronger for each of us. Here again Katarina won two rounds of Splendor Marvel. This is a machine building game where players try to collect 16 points and fill a few other winning conditions. A nice game though!

Torstaina tuli illasta käymään Marianne, Aatu ja pikku-Artturi. Mukava ilta syömistä, juttelua, saunomista ja oleilua.

On Thursday evening my daughter Marianne, her husband Aatu and little Artturi visited Bergö cottage. A nice evening with eating, sauna, chatting and just being.

Lauantaista sunnuntaihin olin vieraana Mariannen ja Aatun mökillä Skaftungissa. Pelejä tuli kaikkiaan 15, osa aika nopeita ja monta samaa. Tässä yksi ovelampi - kolmelle pelaajalle tehty Talat. Tuo vähän kuin kevyt-shakki, mutta kaikilla on kaksi vastustajaa ja pitää miettiä kumman hyökkäystä torjuu omalla vuorollaan. Nappulat voivat korkeuden tai kulmien määrän mukaan voittaa joitakin tai hävitä tai eivät voi mitään toisilleen.

From Saturday to Sunday I visited Marianne's and Aatu's cottage. There we played in total 15 games, some quite fast and played a few times. This one was quite clever - a game for three players: Talat. It's a bit like light chess, but everybody has two opponents and on your turn you need to decide to which side you defend or attack. The pieces have different heights and number of corners and can defeat different pieces.

Lauantaina oli monta tuntia sadetta, mutta oli sentään aurinkoistakin illalla ja sunnuntaina.

There were quite many hours of rain on Saturday but a nice evening and mostly sunny Sunday.

Viikon kuva - Power Park

Viikolta olisi ollut kuvallisesti hienompia tai hauskempia kuvia, mutta aiheena tämä on harvinaisempi, joten viikon kuvana uusi lempparini Junker-vuoristorata. Edellisestä Power Park käynnistä on yhdeksän (9!) vuotta. Tuossa tuli käytyä kolmesti nyt lauantaina. Makee! 👍🏻

There were a few better photos but this one was more rare so I will give you the Junker roller coaster in Power Park amusement park as the photo of the week. My previous visit there was nine years ago so it's a rare view. The ride is a really good one with fast initial acceleration and I went there three times. Cool! 👍🏻  

Alkuviikosta maanantaina käytiin pyöräilemässä Edvinin polulla. Siellä korsujen vieressä otettu 360-kuva näytti hienolta tavallisenakin kuvana, mutta näemmä Flickr osaa sen tehdä VR-kuvaksi.

We did a bicycle round in Vaasa on Monday and visited Edvin's path. The 360-photo near 'war style' dugout was nice as a photo too, but seems that Flickr can show it as a VR photo.

Tarja Halosen pää on ollut pitkään tuolla ja on helpoin tunnistaa.

The head of our first female president is one of the most recognised statues there.

Tiistaina kävin pitkästä aikaa juoksulenkillä. Hietalahden Villan ympäristö on kivan näköistä.

On Tuesday I did some jogging. The surroundings of Hietalahti Villa look good.

Tiistai-iltana kävin anopin ja nuorison kanssa iltapalalla ja pelaamassa Niagaraa. Mukana oli myös pikkuinen Artturi, joka vielä viihtyy kääntyilemässä mahalleen. Sieltä siirryin suoraan Bergööseen, jossa olikin tarjolla hieno auringonlasku.

On Tuesday evening I visited my mother-in-law along with young folks for dinner and we played a round of Niagara. Also Artturi the grandson was there, he still enjoys turning to his stomach. After that I moved directly to Bergö where we had a beautiful sunset.

Nyt pelattiin vähän isompaa peliä - Lost ruins of Arnak. Aloitettiin peruspelillä, mutta ostin jo samassa paketissa odottamaan lisäosan, joka tekee pelin epäsymmetriseksi. Tuossa rakennetaan hiukan pakkaa, asetellaan työläisiä ja tutkitaan saarta keräten aarteita (=pisteitä).

Along the other games this time we had a bit bigger one on the table too - Lost ruins of Arnak. We started with the basic game but I already bought the expansion which makes the game asymmetric. The idea is to explore Arnak island and its temples to collect treasures (i.e. points).

Yet another beautiful sunset.

Torstaista eteenpäin oli mökillä Katarinan lapsenlapset mukana, lisää pelejä ja varovaista uimistakin vaikka sinilevä jo hiukan varoitteli olemassaolostaan. Lauantaina lasten pääkohde: Power Park. Sieltä kuva aiemmasta suosikkilaitteestani, eli Thunderbird -puuvuoristoradasta.

Starting from Thursday Katarina's grandchildren were also at the cottage, more games and some cautious swimming even though cyanobacteria gave its first warnings. On Saturday we got to the kids' main destination for the weekend i.e. Power Park. This was my previous favorite, the Thunderbird wooden roller coaster. 

Ja vielä karuselliajelun yksi suunta - Mika Salo circuit karting rata ja näemmä sen viereen ilmaantunut minigolf-rata.

And one more view towards the karting track. This was designed with a former Finnish F1 driver and now there's also a miniature gold next to it.

Viikon kuva - Juhannus Bergössä

Viikon kuva on itseoikeutetusti juhannuksen vietosta. Äitee ja Tarjan äiti Elsa tulivat yökylään mökille ja kuten muutkin huomasivat, niin kelit oli kohdillaan. Meren rannassa oli mukava n 21C lämpöä.

The photo of the week is naturally from the most important happening of Finnish summer - Midsummer. My mom and Tarja's mother stayed with us at the cottage overnight. The sea makes the climate a bit cooler so it was a nice 21C (70F).

Perinneiltapalan jälkeen oli tietysti vähän kuplivaa ja mansikoita.

After the traditional evening snack we had some bubbling and strawberries. 

Nyt vihreänä aikana on paras hetki ottaa alueen dronekuvat. Laitoin pitkästä aikaa käyttöön myös ostamani DroneVR2 ohjelman ja kaikki saivat katsella näkymät ylhäältä myös livenä VR-silmikon kautta.

Now that nature is green it's a good time to shoot drone photos of the area. I had purchased the DroneVR2 app and it still worked. Everybody got to see the views from high above through the VR glasses.

Syömisen ja saunomisen lisäksi ehdittiin pelata muutamaa peliä, ensin perjantaina 6 Nimmt! ja Battle Sheep pelejä. Lauantaina vielä erä Majestyä: 

In addition to eating and going to the sauna we also had time to play a few board games. First on Friday 6 Nimmt! and Battle Sheep. Then on Saturday one round of Majesty: 

Lähdön yhteydessä otettiin autokierros saarella ja käytiin ostamassa kahvilasta jäätelöt.

When they were leaving the island we had a sightseeing tour and stopped at a cafe to buy ice creams.

Katarinan kanssa käveltiin lossilta takaisin, satama kurkaten. Joku laituri näyttää kaipaavan hiukan huoltoa.

I and Katarina walked back to the cottage from the ferry and checked out a harbor on our way. One pier may require some maintenance.

A mushroom on a risky site in the middle of the road.

Lauantaina illalla ja sunnuntaina on pelattu kuusi erää Raptoria. Tuo on jännä epäsymmetrinen peli, eli pelaajilla on erilaiset toiminnot ja kyvyt. Pelissä vastakkain on Dino-äiti, joka on nopeampi. Tehtävänään on suojella poikasiaan auttamalla kolme niistä pakoon tai tappaa kaikki tiedemiehet. Vastustajana taas on lauma tiedemiehiä, jotka yrittävät nukuttaa Raptorin tai siepata kolme poikasta. 

On Saturday evening and on Sunday we played six rounds of Raptor. It's an exciting non-symmetric board game i.e. players have different actions and targets. Raptor mother is fast and tries to protect its offspring by helping three of them to escape. Another way to win is to kill all scientists. Scientists try to put Raptor to sleep or capture three of its babies. 

Vaikka Suomessa on täydellinen kesäsää mun lomalla, niin maailmalla ei mene niin hyvin - Venäjä jatkaa hyökkäystään Ukrainaan ja yks mun lempipaikkoja, eli USA astui askeleen taaksepäin muuttua Afganistanin tyyliseksi teokratiaksi. No, mutta pidetään peukkuja, että hyvyys voittaa loppujen lopuksi! 🍀🇺🇦🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🖖🏼

Even though Finland has perfect Summer weather now on my vacation, everything it not so good outside world. Russia still attacks Ukraine and one of my favorite places, USA, goes one step backward towards Afganistan style theocracy. But lets hope that good will win eventually! 🍀🇺🇦🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🖖🏼

Viikon kuva - Pitkästä aikaa

Vielä oli yksi normaali viikko ennen loman alkamista juhannuksesta. Viikon kuva on viikon viimeisiltä tunneilta, kun kävin moikkaamassa sunnuntai-iltana Suomessa käymässä olevaa Pasia, jonka kanssa ollaan nähty viimeksi 31 vuotta sitten. Kävi aikoinaan kolmena vuonna kesätöissä Wärtsilässä Kanadasta, jonne oli muuttanut ihan teininä ja on nyt Suomen kunniakonsuli siellä. Paljon mukavaa muistelua ja kevyesti piisas juteltavaa koko ajaksi.

And one more normal week before Midsummer and my first vacation. This photo is from the very last hours of the week - I went to see Pasi who was visiting Finland from Canada. He spent three summers in Wärtsilä and the last one was 31 years ago. Pasi moved to Canada already when he was teenager and is nowadays an Honorary consul of Finland. We had a lot to catch up, nice chatting for the evening.

Katarinan kanssa käytiin testaamassa trangia iltapuuron tekemiseen perjantaina, kun vielä oli hieno ilma. Pöytäkaverit olivat paikalla kanoottiretkellään. Ovat kuulemma paljon vaellelleet Lapissakin.

We walked with Katarina to seaside to test a camping cooker for our evening porridge on Friday when the weather was still sunny. The other ones on the table had come with a canoe. And they have hiked a lot in Lapland too.

Viikonlopun eka peli oli Jaipur ja nyt oli näemmä mun vuoro hävitä (1-2). Tuo on mukava kaksinpeli, jossa kerätään kauppatavaroita tai kameleita ja sitten oikealla hetkellä koitetaan myydä ne. Peliä mennään kunnes vähintään kaksi kierrosta, eli kunnes toinen voittanut kahdesti. 

The first game of the weekend was Jaipur and now it was my turn to lose (1-2). Jaipur is a nice quick game for two in which players collect goods and sell them at the right time. This is done twice or three times, and the winner is the one who first wins two rounds.

Lauantai olikin sateinen ja pöydälle pääsi Honshu sekä Salaisuuksien saari, sekä hoidettiin Katarinan nuorinta lastenlasta. Päiväkävelyn varrelta bongattu koristeltu sähkökaappi:

Saturday was quite rainy and we played Honshu and Forbidden Island. We also took care of Katarina's youngest grandchild. Here's a nicely decorated electrical cabinet on our walk:

Viikon kuva - Viikinkivene

Viikon kuvassa Bergöstä viikinkivene, jota käytiin kuvaamassa. 

The photo of the week is a Viking boat in Bergö that we photographed.

Lisäys: tuolla veneellä olikin jännä historia! Se on tehty oikean viikinkiveneen malliseksi, vuonna -99 se on ollut 'valloittamassa' Istanbulia. Sitten palasi jossain vaiheessa neljän vuoden kunnostukseen ja kaksi vuotta sitten sai uuden nimen ja tuli Bergööhön. 

Added: I found out that the boat has actually quite an interesting history. It's built according to an actual viking boat and they sailed it all the way to Istanbul in Turkey. Then it was fixed for four years and two years ago it got a new name and got a home in Bergö.

Tiistaina mentiin SAM Vaasan porukalla leffaan katsomaan CODA-elokuvaac

On Tuesday we had a movie night with Vaasa's Finland-USA association. The plan was to see CODA.

Mutta olivatkin vähä seanneet, eikä leffaa löytynyt, joten katsottiin joku ihan toinen elokuva. Olipa kyllä hyvä sekin!

But due to a misunderstanding on the theatre side it wasn't available so we watched another USA movie. It was good too! 

Torstaiksi sain pikaisesti bongatun peruutuspaikan Ensiapu-kertauskurssille. Nämä on kyllä aina hyödyllisiä. 

I got a cancellation place for First Aid training for four hours. These are always good use of time to listen.

Lauantaina Bergössä kokeiltiin Castles of Tuscany -peliä. Hävisin niukasti. 

The first game on Saturday in Bergö was Castles of Tuscany. I lost by just two points.

Lapsivieraiden ansiosta mahtui montaa peliä tähän viikonloppuun, tuon edellä olevan lisäksi The Game Face to Face, Block out!, Battle Sheep ja Love Letter. Vielä viimeistelynä otettiin maakuntaretkellä Petterinmäelle iltapalan jälkeen erä Majestyä. Tuossa kerätään omaa valtakuntaa ja eri ammatinharjoittajista saa rahaa. Lopuksi eniten rahaa saanut voittaa. (tässä minä! 😊)

As we had kid visitors this weekend we played quite a many games, in addition to Tuscany above, also The Game Face to Face, Block out!, Battle Sheep and Love Letter. The last one was on our countryside trip on Sunday as we had a round of Majesty after the evening snack. The game consists of collecting people, who bring money and the ruler with the most money (me! 😊) wins.

Viikon kuva - Elämä jatkuu

Nyt olisi ollut montakin hyvää ehdokasta viikon kuvaksi, mutta konserttikuva olisi ollut vähän liikaa toistoa ja moottorikuvan jo jaoin instassa. Elämisen tärkeydestä ja hauraudesta muistuttakoon lasteni ikäinen, eli vuonna -90 syntynyt tuntematon nuorukainen, joka kuoli 19 vuotiaana. Tämä hautakivi nähtiin meidän sunnuntain Pilvilammen pyöräilykierroksen aikana ortodoksisella hautausmaalla. 

Last week I got several photos that could have been photo of the week but that concert shot was too much similar to a recent pic and engine photo was already in my instagram. A reminder of life's importance and how fragile it can be is this young man who was born at the same years as my kids, born in -90 and died at 19 years old. We saw this during our bicycle round on Sunday at an orthodox cemetery. 

Viime viikolla oli neljänä päivänä avajaistoimintaa Wärtsilän uudessa STH-laitoksessa. Tässä johdon puheiden jälkeen esiintynyt Suomen musiikkiteatterin Queen-konsertti.

During last week there were four days of opening happenings in the Wärtsilä's new STH facility. Here's a music theater performing songs of Queen after the top management had the opening speech. 

Selfieitä varten oli koeajosellin eteen nostettu upouusi W31-moottori. 

For selfies they had a brand new W31 engine in front of a test cell. 

Matkalla tilaisuudesta kotiin huomasin pesimiskauden alkaneen. Sielläkin elämä jatkuu.

On my walk home I saw that the nesting period has started, life continues.

Perjantai-iltana käytiin Katarinan kanssa katsomassa auringonlaskua. Olihan se hieno, mutta poikkeuksellisempi kuva oli rannan tuntumassa pyörinyt ilmasurffaaja.

On Friday evening I walked with Katarina to see the sunset. It was nice, but this guy doing 'Silver surfer' rounds was much more special as a photo.

Lauantaina mentiin pelien jälkeen Seinäjoelle ensin äidin luo ja sieltä illaksi katsomaan Lauri Tähkää. Katarina oli ostanut liput jo 2019 ja nyt ne tulivat käyttöön!

On Saturday we visited my mother in Seinäjoki and then went to see Lauri Tähkä's concert. Katarina had bought the tickets already in 2019 and now they were used! 

Valaistus oli hoidettu hienosti!
