Viikon kuva - Mini Lifti

Viikon kuvana kävelyllä vastaan tulleet kaupungin asukkaille vuokrattavat sähköautot (Mini Lifti). Nämä on virastoaikaan kaupungin työntekijöille, mutta muulloin saa kuka vain käyttää. Kivan värikäs tyyli niille onkin kehitelty!

The photo of the week shows e-cars that employees of Vaasa city use daily. Other times they can be rented by hours. I find the style cool and nicely colorful. More information about them is here.

Tuohon mun kotirantaan reilun sadan metrin päähän on nyt rakenteilla Meri - sauna ja ravintola. Nyt vasta tuolta kotisivultaan huomasin, että sinne on tarjolla jäsenyyspakettejakin. Toivottavasti lähtee lentoon (kuvaannollisesti!).

There's currently a new sauna & restaurant being built on my home shore, about 100+ meters from here. Let's see how well this business starts, at least it looks nice: check out the home page.

Mikon serkku Tuomas oli Vaasassa ja kävivät ennen junan lähtöä ottamassa erän Terraforming Mars -peliä. Pelistä oon jo kertonutkin, mutta perusteet vielä täällä.

My son's cousin Tuomas visited Vaasa and before his train left they came to my place to play a round of Terraforming Mars. I've blogged about the game but you can find the basics here.

Pelattiin melkein 2,5 tuntia mutta piti lopettaa vähän kesken ja pisteyttää siihen mennessä tulleet saavutukset. Tiukoille meni, mutta mä huomasin muutaman väärin ymmärtäneeni säännön! 😊

We played it almost 2,5 hrs but had to stop a bit early and count points according to that situation. A tight game! But I noticed a few things that I had earlier understood wrong in the rules. 😊

Viikon kuva - Syksyä ilmassa

Viikon kuvaksi oli taas loppusuoralla kaksi vaihtoehtoa, joista tämä valokuvaussilmää miellyttävämpi nyt voitti. Hartmannin talon koristeet torin reunalla saavat kunnolla muodot näkyviin kun vaakavalo teki hyvät varjot.

The photo of the week was again a choice between two pics of which I chose this one as it looked better in my artistic eye. Decorations of a building next to the main square looked good due to the shadows that the low hanging Sun created.

Kirkon puistossa tuli testattua taas pitkiä valotuksia ottavaa Spectre-sovellusta.

I tested the Spectre app next to the church and took a long exposure photo of the fountain there.

Tämä pelisilmää miellyttävämpi kuva oli jo lähellä tulla valituksi viikon kuvaksi. Pelattiin mökillä nyt ekaa kertaa pari erää Stellar-peliä (linkin takana pelistä lisää). Tuo on helppo, mutta miettimistä vaativa avaruusteemainen korttipeli kahdelle. Poistin omasta pyramidista pelatut kortit, että näkyy tuo hieno pohjakuvio. Vuorotellen valitaan kaksi korttia, joista toinen sijoitetaan teleskooppiin ja toisella kerätään tyyppikohtaisia kertoimia. Loppupisteet tulee sitten kolmesta osiosta: kerroin kertaa tyypin tähdet, kolmen eri osion numerojen summien herruus ja teleskoopin monipuolinen täyttö.

This was almost the chosen one as it was nice for my board gaming eye. We now played our first two rounds of Stellar. It's an easy yet thought demanding space themed card game for two. Here I removed from the telescope area cards I played so that the nice background picture can be seen. Players choose on turns two cards and the other one goes to the telescope, and the other to 'notebook' as a multiplier for each type. At the end points are collected from three areas: multiplier x stars in the telescope for each type, bigger sum of numbers in three sections and how well you got the telescope filled with all card types. 

Vähän samaa värimaailmaa Stellarin kanssa näkyi merimaisemassa auringonlaskun jälkeen.

Sunnuntain kävelyllä tuli nyt hoksattua miten paljon Bergössä onkaan päässyt jättipalsami leviämään. Ilmoitin tuon kuvan paikan vieraslajit.fi sivustolle, mutta kun paikalliset eivät välitä vaikka tuollainen leviää siellä joka paikkaan, niin eipä sille täällä voi paljoa. Muutamaa kohtaa ohimennessä kitkin, mutta se on vain pientä. No, mutta ilmoittakaa te tuonne bongaamianne paikkoja, niin jotkut niitä voivat hoitaa.

On my Sunday walk I noticed that there's a lot of places in Bergö where Himalayan Balsam is growing. Now that it's blooming it's much easier to notice those from a distance. I informed the location to Finnish website of alien species (vieraslajit.fi) but the people living here don't care about these spreading so there's not much to do. But hopefully somebody takes care of the big area - I cleaned some little clusters, but that just slows them a bit.

Viikon kuva - Saarikauden päättäjäiset

Viikon kuva on mökiltä Saarikauden päättäjäisistä, kun tuli eka kerta tilaisuus kokeilla valomaalaamista. Valotusaikana 2,5 sekuntia, siinä jo heilutti monta kertaa tähtisadetikkua.

The photo of the week is from Finnish seaside tradition weekend - the ending of the archipelago cottage Summer season. I tested some light painting with a 2,5 second exposure.

Aikajärjestys se olla pitää, joten palataan alkuviikkoon. Hovioikeudenpuistikolla tehdään uutta kävelykatupätkää ja lämmitysputket olikin ovelan näköisiä.

But the order is important - namely time order. So here's the first pick of last week. The pedestrian zone in downtown is being expanded and they're setting up the heating below the street. 

Viikonloppuna pelattiin ekaa kertaa Azul Summer Pavilionia ja kun vieraat tuli lauantaina, niin Katarina pääsi ekaa kertaa soutelemaan nuorimman lapsenlapsensa kanssa. 

Last weekend we played our first game of Azul Summer Pavilion. After the first guests arrived Katarina got her first rowing with her youngest granddaughter. 

Lauantai oli harmittavan sateinen, mutta olipa kukkakin sitten kimmeltävä.

Saturday was a bit too rainy, but at least the flowers got some shiny drops.

Runsaan lautapelaamisen jälkeen saarikauden päättäjäisten ohjelmaan kuului tietysti ilotulitteet. Tässä näkyi hauskasti varjona ampujat.

After several board games the program also had fireworks. Here's a rocket that creates a nice shadow of senders.

Töissä opin tiukan säännön, että Vaasassa ei vietetä Venetsialaisia, vaan Saarikauden päättäjäisiä tai lyhyemmin Saaren päättäjäisiä. 😃

There's several different names for this traditional weekend and I learnt that in our city it's a very strict rule not to use the name that everybody else in Finland uses.

Viikon kuva - Kesäistä

Viikon kuvaksi lauantain kirkkaassa auringonvalossa köllötellyt perhonen. Kameran pitkällä zoomilla riitti nyt valo ja tarpeeksi kaukaa kuvattuna sai ottaa rauhassa monta kuvaa.

The photo of the Week is a butterfly which I shot in direct sunlight. Hence there was enough light to photograph it from a distance and I got to take several pics.

Sudenkorento vietti paljon aikaa lepäilemässä.

Dragonflies spent a lot of time relaxing in sunny places.

Lauantaina Katarina teki kunnon värikkään lounaan. 😊👍🏻

For Saturday's lunch Katarina created a beautiful and colorful oven tray. 

Ulkona syöminen on jotenkin mukavampaa kuin sisällä. 

Eating outside is much nicer than indoors.

Alkukesästä ei näkynytkään näin paljoa perhosia. Yhdessä puskassa nätä oli välillä kaikkiaan lähes kymmenen.

Now there are many more butterflies than there were a month ago. In one place there were about 10 of these on different flowers.

Ja vielä yksi vähän eri lajinen.

And one more.

Sunnuntai olikin sitten länsirannikolla 18 tuntia sadetta putkeen, joten pelattiin pari peliä, käytiin uimassa ja katsottiin leffa yms. leppoisaa oleilua.

On Sunday the western coast got some 18 hours of rain in a row so we played a few games, swam, ate and watched a movie etc. relaxing things. 

Tätä yllättävää peliä pelattiin perjantaina ja lauantaina, eli mun 2,5€ kirppislöytö '5 minuutin takaa-ajo'. Peli on epäsymmetrinen, eli pelaajat tekee eri asioita. Eka pelaaja on vankikarkuri ja tekee tietyillä säännöillä pakoreitin kolmen tarvikkeen kautta turvapaikkaan. Toinen taas yrittää saada karkurin kiinni merkkaamalla laattoihin oikeaan suuntaan katsovat todistajat. Tuossa ei ole mitään vuoroja, vaan molemmat toimii mahdollisimman nopeasti, eli syke kohoaa taatusti varsinkin pakenijalla. Erän jälkeen vaihdetaan rooleja ja tietyn määrän erävoittoja saanut voittaa koko pelin.

This clever and surprising game got to our table on Friday and Saturday. I found it at a flea market. This 5 minute chase is an asymmetric game i.e. players are doing different things. The first one is a prison escapee and tries to build a route hide-out via three items to be picked up. The second tries to catch her/him by finding witness' pointing to the right direction. There are no turns but both try to work as fast as possible so heart rate rise is a sure thing, especially for an escapee. After a round roles are switched and the one getting a certain amount of victories wins the whole game.

Viikon kuva - Taiteiden yö

Viikon kuva tulee viime torstailta, kun Vaasan Taiteiden yö sai vaihteeksi täydellisen sään. Ennen samba-kulkueen alkua pyysin näiltä kahdelta osallistujalta kuvauslupaa.

The photo of the week is from last Thursday when The Night of the Arts in Vaasa had perfect weather for a change. These ladies are participants of Samba procession and I asked for a photo before the event started.

Kierreltiin keskustaa eri paikoissa, kirkon puistossa oli historiallisen miekkailun näytös.

We walked around downtown. A historic fencing show at the church park.

Viimeisenä Tikanojan taidekodin puutarhassa oli musisointia, josta kuultiin tosin vain viimeinen kappale. Mutta näkyipä paikalla parikin tuttua.

The last stop was at the garden of Tikanojan taidekoti. We just got to hear the last song they performed. And I saw two friends.

Lauantaina lounaan jälkeen naiset saivat ensimmäisen eränsä Catan-peliä. Saatiin tuo joululahjaksi 2016 ja siitä pääsin vähän kärryille lautapelimaailmasta. Kyseessä on siis 27-vuotias klassikkopeli, jossa rakennetaan teitä ja kyliä/kaupunkeja ja kerätään pisteitä. Nopan heitto tuottaa joka kierroksella satunnaisia resursseja, joita tarvitaan vähän rakentamiseen ja pisteiden keräämiseen. 

On Saturday after lunch Katarina and Tarja's mother got to play their first game of Catan. We got this as an Xmas present in 2016 and this was my first experience in getting back to board games. This classic is already 27 years old. Players build roads, villages and towns to get points. Dice are thrown for random supplies that are needed for building and collecting points over the ending condition (10 points).

Sunnuntain kävelylenkillä Sulvan maastossa vierailtiin ovelasti piilotetussa taukopaikassa. Julkaisin paikasta videon instaan 👈🏻‼️.

During the Sunday walk in the woods of Sulva we had a break in this nice hidden resting place. The whole thing can be seen in this video 👈🏻‼️.

Sulvalta pyöräilin takaisin Vaasaan pojan kautta ja matkalla näkyi auringonkukkapelto, johon piti tietysti pysähtyä. Siinä testasin uutta Insta360 One X2 -kameraani, jossa on odottamassa kaikenlaista matskua myös Ahvenanmaan reissulta. Kuvassa on näkymä joka suuntaan - 'pikku planeetan' keskellä on suoraan alaspäin ja joka suuntaan oleva näkymä on sen ympärillä. 

From Sulva I bicycled back to Vaasa via my son. On my way there was a Sunflower field and naturally I stopped there to test my new Insta360 One X2 camera. I already have some clips of our vacation road trip waiting there to be handled. The picture shows every direction - the middle of the 'little planet' is directly down and other directions are around it.

Ensimmäinen julkaistu kokeiluvideo tuolla kameralla on Taiteiden yön samba-kulkueen katselusta. Vaatii kyllä vielä opettelua tuo muokkailu.

The first published video of that camera is from the Samba procession during the Night of the Arts. I clearly need more practice in editing the videos, but hopefully getting better at some point.

Tiny Epic Galaxies + Beyond the Black

Heitetäänpä pitkästä aikaa pelkästään peliä käsittelevä postaus. Tämä Tiny Epic Galaxies oli meillä viime viikon yllättäjä. Sitä pelattiin lähes putkeen viisi erää ja vieläkin kiinnostaisi kisata lisää.

It's been a while since a plain board game post, so here we go again. Tiny Epic Galaxies game was a really positive surprise for us last week. We played it five times almost in a row and would still want to play more.

Tässä pöydällä on peruspeliä (A, B, G, H ja I) paljon enemmän kamaa, kun kolmen erän jälkeen otettiin käyttöön samalla ostamani Beyond the Black -laajennusosa (jossa tuli C, D, E ja F).

This picture shows the basic game (A, B, G, H & I) and the stuff that Beyond the Black expansion brings (C, D, E & F). Fortunately, I bought that in the same package.

Pelin ytimenä on kerätä pisteitä valloittamalla planeettoja (A) ja etenemällä kotigalaksin (B) pisteradalla, jolla saa myös käyttöön lisää noppia ja aluksia. Tuossa H-alustalla näkyykin pelin noppia, joista tulevat toiminnot aina valitaan eri paikkoihin. Valloitetut planeetat (G) tuovat myös lisää toimintoja. Lisäksi molemmilla on jokin salainen tavoite (I), josta voi tulla lopetuksen jälkeen vielä lisää pisteitä.

The core idea of the game is to collect points by colonizing planets (A) and forwarding in the point track of your home Galaxy (B). That track also gives you more dice and ships to use. H-area shows dice which tell the functionalities you can choose. Colonized planets (G) also bring more functions to do. And in addition to those, both players have a secret mission (I) which may bring you more points after the game has ended.

Laajennuksessa helpoin ja kätevin lisä on pistelaskuri (F). Planeettoja ja salaisia tavoitteita tuli mukana jokunen, mutta isoin asia ovat palkattavat pilotit (C). Näillä saa käyttöönsä erilaisia lisäominaisuuksia, jotka ovat vain yhdellä aluksella. Pilotit sijoitetaan tuohon E-alueelle. Toinen laajennuksen isommista lisäyksistä on avaruuden tutkimus (D), josta tulee näitä pyöreitä kortteja. Niissä on useimmiten hyvää, mutta joskus myös huonoakin. Lisäksi niistä ja piloteista tulee neljää eri ryhmää ikoneita, joista kunkin enemmistö tuo lopussa vielä pisteitä.

The easiest and most convenient feature of the expansion is the point track (F). It also brought new planets and secret missions, but the biggest thing there are pilots (C) you can hire. Those give useful features to their ship. Pilots are collected to area E. The second big thing of the expansion is exploring space (D) which works via those round cards. Those are mostly good but there's a risk of bad effects. In addition to that, those and pilots collect four types of icons, which give additional points to the one who has the majority of each at the end. 

Ydinpeli oli heti ekan kerran jälkeen simppelin suoraviivainen ja tuon lisäosan uudet toiminnot luonnistuvat kyllä aika helposti kun se ydin on hallussa. Noppatuuri toki vaikuttaa, että mitä voi tehdä ja siinä on se hyvä, että sitä voi syyttää kun häviää. 😃 Ja jos on aiemmista postauksista tullut kuva, että häviän aina peleissä, niin tässä kuvan tapauksessa voitin 28-22. 😎 

The core game was nice and clear after the first round and the new features of the expansion were easy to understand after a few games. Naturally good luck with dice affects what you can do, but it's also a good scapegoat if you lose. 😃 And if my previous posts have give an image that I lose always, note that in this round I won 28-22. 😎

Viikon kuva - Vaasa Festival

Viikon kuvana nyt näpsäisy Vaasa Festivaaleilta. Oltiin Katarinan kanssa paikalla to-pe, onneksi kun lauantaina tapahtuma keskeytettiin tulevan myrskyn alta. Festareiden kuuluisin bändi oli Toto, mutta valitsin tämän Vesterisen yhtyeineen poseerauksen, koska tykkäsin tuosta kuvana.

The photo of the week is from Vaasa Festival, which took place here last Thu-Sat. Katarina and I participated to the first two days, the third day was canceled due to an oncoming storm. The most famous band was Toto, but I like this picture more so it's the chosen one.

We took advantage of the ad wall of the local shopping center since there was a girl who worked as a photographer. 

Tämä motoroitu laituri on ollut ilmaispaikalla aiempinakin vuosina.

Torstai oli kokonaan kelien puolesta hieno päivä. 

Thursday was a perfect day weather-wise.

Heidi ja Silja, eli sisarukset Seinäjoelta pyysivät mua ottamaan kuvaa ja vastapalvelukseksi pyysin heitä 100 tuntematonta sarjaan.

Sisters Heidi and Silja asked me to take their photo so as a service in return I asked if they could participate in my 100 strangers series.

Then there were Toto!

Tuolle kohtaa tuli enemmänkin porukkaa ilmaispaikoille. 

Most free listeners came for Toto. 

Katarina odotteli Toto tylsien kappaleiden ohi mukavassa paikassa. Ja tuosta oli kuitenkin suora näköyhteys lavalle!

Katarina wasn't that big of a Toto fan and found a perfect place to wait for the boring songs. And yet that place had a direct view to the stage!

Perjantai oli sateisempi, mutta odotettua enemmän riitti kuiviakin hetkiä. 

Friday was quite wet but some dry periods too.

En osannut päättää, kumpi Haloo Helsingin kuva on parempi, joten otin molemmat.

I didn't know which of Haloo Helsinki band pics to choose so I took both of them.

Viimeinen nähty bändi, jossa mulla oli parempi kamera mukana oli Miriam Bryant (Ruotsi). Tämän jälkeen käytiin mun kotona iltapalalla ja pelaamassa. Lisättiin sadevaatetta ja palattiin katsomaan vielä Tomas Ledinin loput, Ellinoora ja BEHM.

The last band which I shot with a good camera was Miriam Bryant from Sweden. After this we visited my home for an evening snack and a quick game. Then we added some rain clothing and returned to listen to three more bands.

Viikon kuva - Ratsailla

Lopetettiin Ahvenanmaan retki Bergöön sunnuntai-iltana, mutta loma jatkuu vielä viikon, joten kiirettä pitää ja vain lyhyt bloggaus. Oon ollut aiemmin kamelin ja lehmän selässä, mutta nyt olin vasta ekan kerran hevosen selässä. Mentiin Eckerössä Islanninhevosretkelle, että olisin turvallisesti vähän alempana ja tietysti mut ainoana ensikertalaisena laitettiin ainoan täyskokoisen hevosen selkään. No, mutta kameran kanssa kikkailusta huolimatta pysyin kyydissä koko 90 minuuttia.

Our road trip to Ahvenanmaa ended on Sunday evening at Bergö cottage, but my vacation continues another week so just a busy blog post. I've been riding a camel and a cow, but now I had my first time riding a horse. We booked a 90 minute Iceland horse trip to get a bit lower horses. Naturally the only first timer (= me) got the only 'normal' horse. But even though I played a bit with my camera while riding I stayed there for the whole trip without falling.

Torstaina käytiin Maarianhaminan pyöräilyn jälkeen kurkkaamassa Viikinkimarkkinoita. Siellä oli myyntikojujen lisäksi leireilemässä viikinkiharrastajia eri maista. Heillä on vaatteet ja varusteet mahdollisimman aitoja. Sain tälle vuodellekin 100 tuntematonta sarjaa eteenpäin kun Sape ja Harri lupautuivat mukaan.

On Thursday after cycling in Maarianhamina (the biggest city in the islands) we visited the Viking market. Along with selling booths there were also people whose hobby is to dress and prepare equipment as Viking style. Now my 100 strangers series continued when Sape and Harri agreed to participate.
