Viikon kuva on meidän Levanevan vaellukselta keskiviikkoillalta. 

The photo of the week is from our Levaneva hike on Wednesday. 

Reitti oli perinteinen iso suoalue.

Kuultiin aluksi varoituksia märästä reitistä, mutta loppujen lopuksi se oli 'vain' tämä:

Before the trip we got warnings of the route being very wet, but eventually it was 'just' this:

Metsässä näkyi tikan kolo. Otin siitä kuvaa kauempaa ja näin kun lintu lähti sisältä, mutta en tietenkään saanut kuvaa siitä. 😕

While taking a photo of this woodpecker hole the bird came out of it! Too bad that I didn't get a picture of it. 😕

Lauantaina käytiin kiertämässä toinen rinki Bergön luontopolusta (sivu ruotsiksi). Vaikka on saaressa, niin ainoa kohta missä näkyi vettä on tämä käynti lammen rannalla. 

On Saturday we hiked another nature path in Bergö (link to page). Even though it's located on an island, the only place showing water is a little bond where there's a resting place.

Puuttuvia merimaisemia oli korvattu puuveistoksilla.

The missing sea scenery was compensated with wooden figures.

Kartan mukaan oltiin ihan pielessä polulta, mutta se ei pitänyt paikkaansa. 😁

The map claims that we were lost, but we surely were on the right track. 😁

Viikon kuva - Etelän reissu Maijaa katsomaan

Viikon kuva tulee nyt lavalta. Oon yhdessä asiakasrekisterissä ja järjestävät keväisin Espoossa pienet festarit. Tänä vuonna pääesiintyjänä oli Maija Vilkkumaa.

The photo of the week is from the stage. I'm on a client list of a company which arranges little festivals every May. This year the main artist was Maija Vilkkumaa.

Paikka on kätevästi firman toimitilojen sisäpihalla.

The location was a handy inner yard of the company's offices.

Toukokuun illat on vielä vilpoisia, mutta meillä oli onneksi riittävästi vaatetta.

The evenings of May are cool but we had just enough clothes.

Juomat ja jätski oli kätevästi itsepalveluna.

Ice-cream and drinks were self-service.

Perjantai kierrettiin Hesan keskustassa. Rautatieasemalla patsaat oli saaneet isänmaalliset kamppeet.

On Friday we walked around the Helsinki center. The statues on the main railway station had patriotic clothes.

Aloitettiin lounaalla Cavernassa.

A lunch buffet gave us a good start.

Turvallisuuspäivien, Kampin kappelin ja Lautapelit.fi-kaupan kautta mentiin eka Temppelinaukion kirkkoon. Otin sieltä 360-kuvan, mutta niitä näyttää olevan jo kymmeniä julkaistuna. No, nyt on yksi enemmän.

We walked via a Safety happening, the chapel in Kamppi and a board game shop to the Temppelinaukio church. There are already tens of 360-photos of that place, but thanks to me there's now one more.

Amos Rex oli suunnitelmissa, mutta päivä loppui kesken. Näkyi sentään yhtä taideteosta rakennuksen katolla.

The plan was to also check out the Amos Rex contemporary art museum, but we ran out of time. Well, at least this work we saw from there.

Seuraavana kohteena oli Kansallismuseo, joka oli multakin vielä kokoaan käymättä.

Jaloissa rupesi tuntumaan koko päivän kävely, joten mentiin vielä Oodiin. 

Walking the whole day started to feel in our feet so we went to the main library of Helsinki, Oodi.

Siellä tarkeni hyvin ottaa tauko näköalaterassilla ja testata kirjaston pelivalikoimaa.

There we had a break at the balcony with a view. And tested their board game collection.

Lauantaina olikin sitten ohjelmassa suht suoraan junamatka Vaasaan. Hyvää viikkoa kaikille! 🍀🇺🇦

On Saturday our program consisted mainly of the train trip to Vaasa. Have a good week everybody! 🍀🇺🇦

Viikon kuva - Droneilua Hietsussa

Viikon kuvaksi pitkästä aikaa droneilua. Tuohon Hietasaareen, eli Hietsuun on tulossa kesäksi uusittu rantaravintola ja sen viereen kellumaan vähän kiipeilyrataa nuorisolle. Oon sitä kuvannut merenpinnan tasolta, mutta parhaiten se näkyy vähän ylempää.

The photo of the week is again shot by my drone. The nearby beach gets a new restaurant and next to it there will be this playground for the wild. I've shot it from the sea level but it's better seen from a bit higher view angle.

Muita viikon kuvia on esim tiistailta, jolloin pidimme SAM Vaasan hallituksen kokouksen. Paikka olikin mielenkiintoinen, kun sai kurkata kulisseihin, joissa meidän pj Jasmin tekee TE-Live lähetyksiä.

Perjantai-iltana oli ison porukan kokoontuminen Hotelli Waskiassa, kun oli tuon Wärtsilän STH-projektin lopetteluillallinen. Paljon ihmisiä ja ruokaa. Mun ilta loppui jälkkäriin:

The STH project is ending and for that the participants had a dinner on Friday evening in the Waskia hotel. A lot of people and good food. My evening ended to the dessert: 

Lauantaina käytiin kävelyllä taas hautausmaan kautta. En ollut aiemmin huomannut vanhan hautausmaan peränurkan isoa Lassila-sukuhautaa.

On Saturday we walked again via the cemetery. I hadn't noticed before this big Lassila family grave at the back corner of the old cemetery.

Kävely, lounas ja mentiin katsomaan suositun Botnia Paradise -näytelmän toiseksi viimeinen näytös Wasa Teateriin. Hauskaa meininkiä!

After the morning walk we had lunch and then went to see a play called Botnia Paradise as it was its second but last showing. A fun play!

Vielä lopuksi kuva tuosta kiipeilyradasta vähän ylempää. Toki pelattiinkin viikonloppuna, mutta ne ei nyt päässeet kuviksi asti, pöydällä oli Dominion, The Game ja The Crew - The Quest for Planet Nine.

Greta 100

Katarinan yks lempi-ihmisistä on Bergön vanhainkodissa asuva Greta Holm. Greta täyttää tänään 13.5.2022 tasan 100 vuotta ja sen kunniaksi aloitti nyt blogin pitämisen. Ylellä on tosi mukava uutinen tapauksesta (ruotsiksi, mutta vaikkei kieli sujuisi, niin kannattaa kuitenkin käydä katsomassa hienot kuvat).

One of Katarina's favourite people is Greta Holm who lives in the Rest home in Bergö. Today May 13th 2022 is Greta's 100th birthday and to celebrate that they started her blog. Finnish national news site (in Swedish) has a really good article about the occasion here. There are several nice photos of them, so a quick visit is highly recommended.

The photo of the week is naturally from Mother's Day. Here are my mother, my daughter and my grandson. ❤️

Aloitetaan aikajärjestyksessä, oltiin viikonlopun alku Bergössä ja testattiin jo aurinkohatut kesää varten. 

Let's begin in chronological order. We started the weekend in Bergö and did a test run of the summer hats. 

Majesty-peli pääsi kokeiluun ja oli kyllä hyvä, vaikka hävisinkin kaikki kolme peliä (esim tämä viimeinen 198-192). Nopea peli, jossa rakennetaan oma valtakunta 12 henkilökortin hankinnalla ja eniten rahaa kerännyt on majesteetti. 

Majesty was the new game for the weekend. It was really nice even though I lost all our three games (for example this last one 198-192). It's fast and simple - you just collect 12 person cards to your kingdom and the player with the most money at the end is a majesty. 

Sunnuntaina aloitettiin äitienpäivän vietto lounaalla Katarinan pojan ja lapsenlapsen kanssa.

On Sunday we started Mother's day with lunch with Katarina's son and granddaughter.

Minäkin pääsin taas hengailemaan lapsenlapsen kanssa.

Also I got to hang out with my grandson.

Kahvipöydässä tietysti kettukarkkeja ja muuta makeaa.

Viikon kuva - Vappu

Viikon kuvana pitkästä aikaa bongattuna Topeliuksen lakitus. Käväistiin katsomassa se ja sitten takas kotiin pelaamaan erä Alhambraa (nyt hävisin enää niukasti 126-123! 😊). 

The photo of the week shows the traditional May Day activity - students put the high school hat on Topelius statue. After seeing this we returned home and played a game of Alhambra (now I lost with just a few points! 126-123 😊)

Sunnuntaina katsottiin viimeiset jaksot mahtavasta Ted Lasso sarjasta ja syömisen jälkeen mentiin katsomaan Stundarssin vapputoria. Mukana vanhoja autoja:

On Sunday we watched the last episodes of the amazing Ted Lasso series. After lunch we headed to the nearby museum village to see May Day happenings there. Along with old cars:

Next we did some walking in Old Vaasa. Visited Yxgärde but I'll save its photos to a more green days. But the tree by the road there was a nice one:

Jatkona käveltiin lemmikkieläinten hautausmaalle. Jännyyttä.

And we continued walking to visit the Pet Cemetery. Exciting!

Viikon kuva - Palvelusvuosipinssi

Viikon teema on vuosipäivät - kuva on perjantain illalliselta, jossa juhlittiin Wärtsilässä 30- ja 40-vuotta olleita. 

The theme of the week is anniversaries - the photo is from the Wärtsilä dinner celebrating those who have been in the company 30 or 40 years.

Toinen merkkipäivä on se, että tänään sunnuntaina sain Tarjan❤️ kiinni iässä. Liian nuorena kuoli vaimo. 😔

The other meaningful moment is that today I'm as old as Tarja ❤️ was when she died. She was much too young. 😔 

Alla saavun pinssin noudolta. Mukava puoli on, että pinssin lisäksi firma muisti palkallisella kuukaudella. Nykyään saa vapaata myös 10- ja 20-kohdilla, mutta HR-mies pöydässä vastapäätä meinasi, että niitä ei saa takautuvasti. 

Here I'm returning from fetching my pin. The nice side is that in addition to that I also get a paid free extra vacation month. Nowadays also 10 and 20 years give a free week, but I asked the HR guy opposite me and that award is not retroactive.

Viikko alkoi Pääsiäismaanantain lounas-pelillä. Mariannen Paris Connection -siirto sai hämmästyneitä reaktioita. 😊 Helppo peli, mutta vaatii mukavasti taktikointia. Lisää tietoa ja arvostelu löytyy yo linkin takaa. 

The week started with a boardgaming lunch on Easter Monday. Marianne's move on Paris Connection surprised some. 😊 An easy game but requires some tactics. More information and reviews behind the link above.

Artturi vaatii välillä huomiota. 😊

But little Artturi also wants some attention. 

Kävelyllä näkyi hieno heijastus.

A nice reflection on my walk.

Menin Wärtsilään ekan kerran 35 vuotta sitten ja suuren osan oon istunut ykköstehtaalla. Nyt kävin aloittamassa valokuvauskerhon kopperon tyhjäämisen ja hokasin, että on viimeisiä tilaisuuksia käydä kurkkaamassa näkymät katoltakin. Tuo vanha VR:n torni on aina ollut kiehtova - sinne ei taida päästä käymään. 

I started working in Wärtsilä for the first time 35 years ago and this view is from the top of the building I started working on. After starting to clean the photography club room for migration I realised that now it's my last chance to check out the view from the roof. That old Railroad company's tower has always been inviting - but I suppose it's impossible to get in there.

"Se on varma kevään merkki, kun nuoriso alkaa parveilemaan laitureilla" niin kuin vanha kansa tapaa sanoa. 

The sure sign of the Spring is that youngsters start to flock on piers.

Parin sadan metrin päässä joutsenet vielä odottelee kevään etenemistä, että jatkavat pohjoiseen.

A few hundred meters more and swans are still waiting for Spring to advance so that they can continue to the North.

Taivas oli nyt vähän tylsä auringonlaskussa, mutta jäällä olevat lammikot pelasti näkymää.

The sky was a bit dull on this sunset but water pools on the ice made the view more interesting.

Mökin lampusta löytyy hyvin säätöjä.
