Viikon kuva - Pääsiäispeliviikonloppu

Viikon kuva on nyt peliaiheesta. Vedettiin mökillä nyt pidempikin peli, eli Terraforming Mars. Harmi, kun en tullut lisänneeksi kuvaan kasvillisuuslaattaakin, niin olisi tullut vielä mukavampi detalji. Aurinko teki niin kivat värivarjot tuohon, että piti vähän lähikuvailla. 

The photo of the week shows a board game detail. Now we also had a longer game, Terraforming Mars. Too bad that I didn't realize to add a vegetation tile here too to make the pic nicer. Sun created such a nice color-shadow that I had to shoot close-up of it.

Terraforming Mars on nimensä mukaisesti peli Marssin maankaltaistamisesta ja on BGG:n listalla sijalla 4 (yli 20 000 lautapelistä!!!). Pelaajat kasvattavat yhdessä kolmea tavoitetta (happipitoisuus, lämpötila ja meret) ja siinä samalla kerätään itselle pisteitä. Enemmän pelistä täällä. Kuvassa näkyy myös lopputilanne, eli Katarina voitti murskaluvuin. Seuraavalla kerralla mun pitää tehdä enemmän pistetoimintojakin.

Terraforming Mars is a game about terraforming Mars (clever name!) and it's really appreciated as it's #4 on the BGG list (of over 20 000 board games!!!). Players raise together three objectives (oxygen, temperature and seas) and while doing those collect winning points. More info about the game is here. The picture shows the end situation i.e. Katarina won by almost double the points. Next time I need to do more point actions.

Muuten viikko meni taas nopeasti, tällainen näkymä oli vankilan rannassa tiistaina ohikävellessä.

Otherwise last week was again a quick one, I saw this view near the prison on my Tuesday walk.

After the walk I also took a 'before' picture of the old silos that I'm watching even now from the kitchen window. The nice looking future view can be seen here.

Lauantain kävelyllä näkyi Bergössä letkujenkuivatustorni.

On the Saturday walk I shot this hose drying tower. 

Meren rannassa oli verkot valmiina jäälle kelkkailuun.

Somebody had all the gear ready for net fishing on the sea ice.

Metsässä oli huteran näköisiä telineitä.

Mökillä ihmeteltiin ihan rannassa jäällä pyörivää kalastajaa. Liian lähellä!

In the cottage we wondered about the fishermen coming on the ice too close to the cottage.

Upeita auringonlaskuja kuulemma riittää. 

I heard that there are often amazing sunsets.

Sunnuntaina Vaasaan palatessa näin minäkin ekan kerran vaasalaisilta paljon kuullun Åminnen kemupaikan. 

On our way back to Vaasa on Sunday I finally saw Åminne. I've heard of it from all who've been in Vaasa their juvenile years.

Viereisellä leirintäalueella oli joku saanut hyvän paikan, josta ei kannata luopua.

Somebody had got a really good spot on the nearby camping site. One that you don't resign.

Lopuksi vielä Åminnen parkkipaikan läheinen rivistö venevajoja.

Vierailujakin tuli viikonlopulle - perjantaina nähtiin pizza-illallisen merkeissä Katarinan sisko ja veli, molemmat puolisoineen. Maanantaina tuli syömään Mikko, Marianne, Aatu ja lapsenlapsi Artturi. Ja molemmilla vierailuilla pelattiin paria lautapeliä! 😊

There were also two visits with relatives on the Easter weekend: on Friday we had a pizza evening with Katarina's sister and brother and their spouses. On Monday my kids, son-in-law and grand child came for lunch. And both visits had two different games played! 😊

Viikon kuva - Ylläksellä

Viikon kuva ja muitakin kuulumisia meidän Ylläksen reissulta. Enemmänkin kuvina, että pääsen vielä nukkumaankin. Tässä ollaan tauolla Kotamajalla.

The photo of the week is from our week in Lapland. This has less text so that I'll get to sleep in time. Below we are having a break at Kotamaja resting place.

Ringin eka tauko oli Elämänluukussa, joka on ollut metsurien asuntola.

That round started with a visit to Elämänluukku (life's hatch) which was originally a forest living site for lumberjacks.

Päivän lopuksi kurkattiin vielä navettagalleria. Tuosta jännästä pöydästä on albumissa vielä toinenkin kuva.

After the round we visited a gallery that's built into an old cow house. The curious table in front is visible in the trip's album (link at the end).

Pelejä tuli kokeiltua 10 erilaista viikon aikana. Tässä Star Realms ja siihen samalla kätevästi hoitunut jalkahoito. 😊

We played 10 different games during the week. Here's Star Realms which was handy to play while doing a pedicure. 😊

Torstaina käytiin laskettelemassa ja kelit suosivat taas. Gondolin jono oli aika pitkä, koska edelleen kuhunkin koppiin meni vain yhtä seuruetta. Eteni onneksi suht hyvin.

On Thursday we did some downhill skiing and had great weather. The queue to the gondola was quite long as due to covid-19 only the same party goes in together. But it wasn't too slow.

The skiing tracks were in good condition - at least when it wasn't snowing.

Kokeiltiin yksi peli Tappajahaitakin, mutta tällä kertaa hai oli vähän liian kärsimätön ja hävisi.

We also played Jaws, but this time the shark was too hasty and lost. 

Lainion lumilinnassa oli teemana tulevaisuus. Kappelin puhujakoroke on tyylikäs.

The theme in Lainio snow castle is the future. The speaking stand in the chapel is quite stylish.

Perjantaina osui vielä suunnilleen ajettu reitti kohdalle, että päästiin tekemään Haavepalon rinki. On ne hienot näkymät (yhdeksän vuotta sitten lumettomana aikana näin).

On Friday we had luck with the skiing track machine and the route to Haavepalo was driven. There are great views from the top (the same place without snow about nine years ago).

Viikon kuva - Ladut kunnossa

Pikainen viikon kuva Ylläksen lomaviikon aloituksesta. Ajettiin tänne lauantaina (680+ km) ja sunnuntaina käytiin ekalla hiihtolenkillä. Tästä mökiltä suoraan ladulle ja käynti Lainiolla, josta tuli hiukan yli 17 km hiihtoa. Sen jälkeen vielä 5km kävelyä, niin oli taas kuntoiltu riittävästi. 

A quick photo of the week post from our vacation week beginning. On Saturday we drove 680 km (423 mi) here and on Sunday we took the first xc-skiing. That first skiing was a visit to near-by cafe so it was a bit over 17 km (almost 11 mi). After that we did a 5 km walk so that was enough exercise for one day.

Leffoja on muutama ja lautapelejä on mukana 'riittävästi' 😊 mökkioleilua varten. Ihastelin taas sunnuntain kävelyllä tuota South Park -tyylistä Ylläsjärven kylttiä.

We have a few movies and 'enough' 😊 board games as the indoor activities. Here I admired again that South Park style sign on our Sunday Walk (it says 'Welcome to Ylläsjärvi').

Viikon kuva - kevättä kohti

Tämä oli niin hurjan näköistä menoa, että tuli valittua viikon kuvaksi ihan vain kevät-fiiliksissä. Keskiviikon kävelyllä näkyi jäällä kaksikko painelevan mönkijällä keskustaan - itse en enää mene edes kävelemään sinne. 

This looked so wild that I chose it as the photo of the week for local Spring activity. Last Wednesday we saw these two fellows riding an ATV on the sea ice. I don't want to go there even to walk. 

Kävelyn jatkuessa tuli Tropiclandian kohdalla eteen mukavat näkymät.

Askelten keräämisen jälkeen käytiin Elsan luona iltapalalla ja pelattiin 0-9 sekä Menolippu pohjoismaat. Katarina veti junapelin voiton ylivoimaisesti Lieksa-Muurmansk radan rakentamisella. 

After the walk we visited Elsa for an evening snack and two games: NMBR 9 and Ticket to Ride Nordic countries. Katarina easily won the train game by building the route to Murmansk. 

Bergön lossi on tullut tutuksi mökkikäynneillä. 

The ferry to Bergö is familiar now after the cottage visits.

Viikonlopun eräänlainen kevätmyrsky teki jännät muodot rantakiven ympärille. Kirkas taivas sentään teki ilman nätiksi, mutta kovan tuulen takia sisäohjelmaan mahtui paljon: leffaklassikko Amelie ja pelit Welcome to..., 7 Wonders Duel, Hive Pocket ja Age of Civilization. 

The light Spring storm created nice formations around the rock on the shore. Bright weather made nice views but strong winds gave us time to be inside: a movie classic Amélie and games Welcome to..., 7 Wonders Duel, Hive Pocket and Age of Civilization were fun uses of free time.

Viikon kuva - Tauolla

Mökkiviikonlopun ohjelmana oli kävelyiden ja mukavien pelien (Quest for El Dorado, Hive ja Port Royal) lisäksi puiden kaatamista. Taas sai nörtti uusia kokemuksia. Tai no, olin kyllä isän apuna metsätöissä 1970-80-lukujen vaihteessa, mutta nyt sain koskea moottorisahaankin. Pääosin kyllä apulaisena nytkin. 

Our weekend at the cottage had good walks and exciting games of Quest for El Dorado, Hive and Port Royal. In addition to those, the undersigned nerd got a new experience of cutting down trees. Well, I helped my father with that work some 43 years ago, but this time I got to use the chainsaw a bit. But still mostly a helper. 

Kävelyllä näkyi hieno venevaja.

We saw a nice boat house during our walk.

Ja pitäähän sitä taas auringonlaskuakin näyttää. Keskiviikkona hiihdettiin 8 km Söderfjärdenin kovilla hangilla. Kääntymispaikkana oli Meteoriihi ja siellä oleva auringon pienoismalli oli kätevä varjostin oikealle auringolle. 

And of course the traditional sunset photo is needed for this post too. On Wednesday we did 8 km (5 mi) xc-skiing on the fields of Söderfjärden. The turning point was Meteoria, where the model of the Sun was a good shade for the real Sun.

Saturday classic - Napoleon XIV

Pitkästä aikaa hiukan musisointia. Musan assosiointi hyppelyissä tuli vastaan tämä 'He tulevat hakemaan minut pois, hahaaa!' -kappale. Olin vasta yksivuotias tämän tullessa, joten omakohtaista muistoa ei ole, mutta myöhemmin tämä on tullut monta kertaa vastaan. Ja oli tuolloin 1966 edellä aikaansa.

It's been a while but here's again some classic music. We've done some associative music jumping and got in this They Are Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Haaaa. I was just one year old in 1966 when this came out, so I don't remember it but have heard it every now and then ever since. A song that really was ahead of its time.

Solisti on taiteilijanimeltään Napoleon XIV ja oikealta nimeltään Jerrold Samuels. Tämä kappale oli välitön hitti ja nousi maailmalla kärkisijoille. Lisätietoa tuolla linkkien takana, muun muassa että Jerrold teki vuonna -88 jatko-osan nimeltä 'He tulevat hakemaan minut taas, hahaa'.

The artist is Napoleon XIV i.e. Jerrold Samuels who wrote this song in 1966. The song was an immediate success and got to top lists in USA, Canada and UK. More info behind links above, for example that in 1988 Jerrold published a sequel named 'They're coming to get me again, ha haaaa'

Viikon kuva - Ristiäiset

Sunnuntaina suvun nuorimmainen sai nimen! Oli mukava olla hetken taas normaalisti ja nähdä sukua. Meillä ainakin oli testit aamulla negatiivisia, joten pidetään 👍🏻 ettei tule seurauksia iloista tilaisuutta pilaamaan.

On Sunday the youngest member of our family got named! It was nice to be normal for a few hours and see relatives. Our tests were negative that morning so let's hope 🍀 that there won't be any nasty consequences spoiling the happy event.

Taas yksi auringonlasku, nyt vain on selvästi niiden sesonkiaika.

Yet another sunset. It's clearly the season of those.

Viikon kuva - Mielenosoitus torilla

Viikon kuvana nyt uutistenkin isoin aihe, eli Ukraina. Tämä mielenosoitus Venäjän hyökkäystä vastaan oli viime keskiviikkona Vaasan torilla. Meillä tuli vain käveltyä ohi, kun väkijoukkojen välttäminen on näin korona-aikana on aika verissä.

The photo of the week is about the biggest news recently i.e. Ukraine. This demonstration against Russia attacking Ukraine happened last Wednesday at the Vaasa market square. We're still avoiding crowds so we just walked by.

Auringonlasku oli mainio edeltävänä päivänä. Ensin kotinurkalla näin:

Viikonloppuna taas hiihdettiin, pelattiin, käveltiin ja pelattiin Bergössä. Uutena pöytään pääsi Hive (Pocket versio mulla), josta tässä tuplavoittajan vaatimaton hymy. Onneksi kolmannen pelikerran voitin mä, niin ei tarvinnut kiukutella. 😁 Tuossa yritetään ympäröidä toisen mehiläiskuningatar nappuloilla, jotka kukin liikkuvat hiukan eri tavoin.

During the weekend at Bergö we did xc-skiing, board gaming, walking and board gaming. A new one was Hive Pocket and here's the modest smile of the double winner. Fortunately, I won our third game so I didn't need to whine too much. 😁 The game is about trying to surround the other player's queen bee. All the pieces move a bit different ways.

Käveltiin jään poikki lahden yli ja matkalla näkyi lossi matkallaan.

We took a walk over the icy bay and during that we saw the ferry on its way.

Otettiin myös pari erää Age of Civilizationia, josta toisella kertaa pääsin onneksi tasoihin. Tuolla linkin takana on kattava kuvaus, mutta periaatteessa tässä vain pelataan kuusi kierrosta ja yritetään kerätä mahdollisimman paljon pisteitä. Ensin hankitaan rahaa ja sillä + työläisillä valitaan sitten eri toimintoja jotka saatavilla.

The other game of the weekend was Age of Civilization. There I managed to get a tie on our second round. The linked page tells more about the game but in principle the game consists of six rounds where you try to score as many points as possible. You first acquire money and then with it + workers you choose different functions that are available.

Tämä viimeinen kuva on jo tältä viikolta, eli maanantaijumpan jälkeisen vähän kauempaa kiertävän kävelyn varrelta. Mutta tämä linkittyy vähän viikon kuvaan, joten otin jo mukaan. Onneksi kyseessä ei sen vakavempaa kuin kaupunkisotaharjoitus Vaasassa.
