Viikon kuva - Äitienpäivä

Viime viikolla olikin juhlimista, kun vietettiin äitienpäivää. Korttien virallinen jako tehtiin sohvalle, mukana tytär ja miniä.

Last week had a lot to celebrate as we had Mother's day. The official card delivery happened on the couch, along with her daughter and her daughter-in-law.

Mutta mennään aikajärjestyksessä. Maanantaina siirrettiin Wärtsilän valokuvauskerhon Vuoden kuva -näyttely Runsoriin. 

But let's go in chronological order. On Monday we moved the company's photo club's Photo of the Year gallery to the second site.

Sieltä kotiin ajaessa huomasin aukiolevaksi oven, joka ei ole ollut 'ikinä' auki. Parkkeerasin välittömästi ja menin katsomaan.

While driving home from there I noticed a door that's 'never' open being open! I parked immediately and visited there.

Tuo on ihan tavallinen osto- ja myyntiliike. Kuulemma ehkä yhdeksän vuotta ollut tuossa, mutta aukiolot vähän vaihtelevat.

The place is an ordinary second hand shop. The shop keeper said that he's been here for nine years but opening times vary a lot.

Perjantaina kävin uusimassa työlasit. 

On Friday I visited an optician to renew my work glasses.

Äitienpäivä viikonloppuna tuli tehtyä (muistaakseni) eka ikinä kakun kuorrutus. Selvä vara-ammatti, jos pitää atk:sta luopua. 😃

On Mother's day weekend I did my first ever (as far as I remember) cake decorating. Clearly a plan B career for me if I need to leave IT. 😃

Ja äitienpäiväänhän se oli, joten heti käyttöön.

And the cake was taken in use right away.

Lauantain lopuksi kävin antamassa omalle tyttärelle äitienpäivälahjana aikaa. Eli viihdytin vaihtelevalla menestyksellä lapsenlasta Artturia. Sen jälkeen kotiin kävellessä käytiin Katarinan kanssa avaamassa terassikauden Faroksella.

For Saturday afternoon I gave as a Mother's day present some free time to my daughter. I.e. I entertained about three hours my grandson Artturi. After that on our walk home we opened the terrace season at Faros restaurant.

Sunnuntaina mentiin sitten Mariannen, Artturin ja Katarinan kanssa Seinäjoelle mun äiteen luo käymään. Artturia kiinnosti naapurin tontti ja varmaan 20+ kertaa nostin sen pois rajalta kun olisi sinne kävellyt.

On Sunday we visited my mother with Marianne, grandson Artturi and Katarina. Artturi was very interested in the neighbor's lawn and I must have carried him back to own side at least 20+ times.

Mun nuorin veli Janne oli myös paikalla. 

My youngest brother Janne was also there.

Pelejäkin pelattiin, mutta nyt ei ollut ohjelmassa mitään uutta, vaan vanhoja tuttuja.

We played again a few board game rounds, but no new games, just the old ones.

Viikon kuva - Wasalandiasta hetkeksi Landia

Viikon kuvana nyt 35 vuotisen tarinan loppu, eli vuonna 1988 avattua Wasalandiaa puretaan viimein. Alue on ollut tyhjillään viimeiset 8 vuotta, kun Vaasa ja Puuharyhmä ei päässeet sopimukseen purkamisen kustannuksista. Nyt pari vuotta paikka oli sentään Graffiti-Landia käytössä.

The photo of the week shows the end of a 35 year old story. Wasalandia, an amusement park opened in 1988 is now finally being demolished after being deserted for 8 years. The renter had a 35 year rental agreement and couldn't agree with Vaasa on the demolition costs. Now for two years the area has been Graffiti-Landia.

Seuraavana päivänä huomasin torniin ilmaantuneen piraattilipun. Tuota ei mielestäni siä aiemmin ollut!? Ja tänään oli tornikin kadonnut.

The next day I noticed that a pirate flag had been put on the area tower. Though today the whole tower was gone.

Perjantaina alkoi eka kokonainen saariviikonloppu ja monesti kävellyllä reitillä huomasin taas uutta. Sitkeä koivu kasvaa kivestä. Tuossa on ainakin jykevä perusta!

On Friday we started our first fill cottage weekend and I noticed something new on a route we've walked several times. A persistent tree with a massive basis.

Pari sataa metriä myöhemmin näkyi vielä jäätä varjoisalla itäpuolen rannalla. Tosin on sitä vielä omassakin rannassa.

A few hundred meters later I noticed that there was still ice on the Eastern side shore. Although, there's still some on our beach too.

Perjantaina otettiin myös eka ulkoruokailu. Pipo ei kyllä ollut vielä yhtään liikaa. Mutta hanskoja ei tarvinnut! 

We got our first outside meal on Friday. Hat was still not too much but it was fine without gloves!

Viikolla otettiin jo yksi uusi peli: Capital Lux 2: Generation. Tuossa kerätään pisteitä kilpaa pitämällä oman alueen summa mahdollisimman lähellä keskusalueen vastaavan sarakkeen summa, mutta yli menemisellä menettää omat korttinsa. Keskusalueelle pelatessa saa tehdä jonkin erityistoiminnon. Niitä löytyy jokaiseen neljään osioon neljä erilaista, joten yhdistelmiä riittää. 

On Wednesday we played one new game: Capital Lux 2: Generation. There we collected points by keeping the sum of our own areas cards on or below the sum of the common area. Going over the limit makes you lose cards so it's good to be careful. Playing in the common area gives you different special functions and there are four different options to each four slots, so there are many combinations.

Alennuksessa näkynyt Valparaiso kiinnitti nimellään huomion, koska käytiin siellä 2016 maailmanympärimatkalla. Peliin tutustuminen lukitsi ostopäätöksen ja olihan tämä tosiaan taas mainio uudenlainen peli. Muuten peli on aika tavanomainen pisteitä kerääminen rakentamalla ja tekemällä kauppaa, mutta itselleni uutena oli toimintojen päättäminen yhtä aikaa salassa. Tuo teki pelaamisen tosi sujuvaksi. 

I noticed a sale containing a game called Valparaiso and since we visited there on our RTW-trip in 2016 I checked it out. That was a good decision as it's an excellent game! The point collecting by building houses and making trade is similar to many other games but there's also something new in this one. All players choose and sort actions for each round at the same time in secrecy which makes the gameplay really fluent. 

Ja lauantaina tuli kauden ensimmäinen mökkigrilliruoka: seitanpihvit valkosipuliperunoilla. 😋  

The first grilled lunch of the season happened on Saturday: Seitan steak with garlic potatoes. 😋

Hanamikoji-peli oli Ylläksellä Timon voittokulkua, mutta nyt seitsemäs kerta toden sanoi ja löytyi uusi mestari. 😊

Hanamikoji game was my cup of tea during our Lapland week but now the seventh game gave us a new champion. 😊

Sunnuntaillekin tuli yksi kauden ensimmäinen, kun käytiin saunasta meressä. Kylmäähän se oli, muttei niin kamalaa kuin odotti. #talviturkki 

We also got one 'the first' for Sunday too: a visit in the sea from the sauna. It surely was freezing but not that bad as we expected.

Viikon kuva - Oranssi lupaa mukavaa kesää

Viikon kuvana taas vähäeleisempää värikkyyttä vappuaaton auringonlaskusta Bergössä. 

The photo of the week is again a colorful sunset photo from Bergö.

Toisaalta mietin samoilta minuuteilta myös tätä vaihtoehtoa. Valitsinkohan taas väärän?

On the other hand I was planning to pick this one from almost the same minute. Did I choose wrong?

Aiemmin viikolla näkyi rantareitillä töistä kotiin pikkusydän. Huom tuossa alanurkassa pajunkissoja!

Earlier last week I saw this little heart on my walk back home from the office. Notice the little buds on trees - a sign of Spring! 

Tiistaina käytiin taas liippaamassa läheltä pakohuoneen onnistumista. Sen jälkeen otettiin kolmistaan Mikon kanssa tiukka erä Dune Imperium -peliä.

On Tuesday we narrowly missed an escape room. After which we took a three person tight round of Dune Imperium board game with Mikko.

Viikonloppuna valmisteltiin vähän mökkiä kesää varten. Laituri meni paikoilleen rannalta saateltuna.

During the weekend we prepared Katarina's cottage for the Summer. Now the pier is on its right place.

Kuva maanantailta, koska sunnuntain näpsäys oli tosi epäselvä. Mutta siis Luxor! Pelimiehen alesta tehty tuore hankinta oli mukavan sulava pläjäys kilpajuoksua ja samalla pisteiden keräämistä egyptiläisten hautoja ryöstelevillä indianajoneseilla. Erilaisia vaihtoehtoja löytyi sopivasti, vaikka kädestä sai vuorollaan käyttää vain jompaa kumpaa kahdesta uloimmasta kortista. Hyvä tarkempi kuvaus tuolla linkin takana. Piti pelata vielä kolmaskin erä vappuna, niin mäkin sain yhden voiton. ^_^

The new board game of the week was Luxor. This game was a fun simple race of tomb robbing indianajoneses to collect more points and get to the main chamber first. Even though you had just two possible cards for use in each of your turns, there were still several ways to use them. And even though the main chamber gives a lot of points, it doesn't mean that the first one there wins. Mostly it wasn't so. Check out the link for more information. We played this a third round so that I got also a victory. ^_^

Viikon kuva - Normalisoitumista

Sairastelut meni ohi ja saatiin aikaiseksi syödä perheen kera. Artturi oli tässä kohtaa vielä päiväunilla, mutta herättyään oli taas niin viihdyttävä hemmo, ettei ehditty pelaamaan mitään.

Covid passed by and the normal life returned as we had a Sunday lunch. At this moment Artturi was still sleeping, but after he woke up, he was so entertaining that we didn't have time for any board games.

Aiemmin viikosta kuvattu siilot, jotka nyt vihdoin puretaan. Aita on jo rakennettu ympärille.

Viikon uutena pelinä oli Mandala stones. Yksinkertainen, mutta taas paljon vaihtoehtoja miten kerätä pisteitä. Omalla vuorolla voi joko ottaa kiviä (vasen ylälauta) tai pisteyttää niitä (omalta alalaudalta tuohon spiraaliin). Pisteyttämiseen on viisi erilaista tapaa ja pelin lopussa on vielä valittavana yksi salainen lisäpisteitä antava kortti. Kiva peli taas (voitettiin molemmat kerran)! 

The new board game of the week was Mandala stones. A simple game with a lot of possibilities to gather points. On your own turn you can either take stones (top left board) or score points (own lower board to the spiral). For scoring points there are five different ways and also one secret point condition card for the end of the game. Again another good game (one win for each of us)!

Kevät jo saapuu, vaikka tälle viikolle tulikin taas lunta pienoisena takatalvena. 

Spring is coming, even though we got some snow at the beginning of this week.

Perjantaina kävin katsomassa Ritzissä Nikon Kivelän standup-shown. Oli nyt neljäs kerta nähdä miestä livenä, edellisellä kerralla oli kyllä parempi esitys. 

On Friday I went to see a stand up show in a theatre next block. The fourth time I saw him live, the previous time was funnier though. 

Kaupan lamppuosasto oli taiteellinen.

Lauantaina vaihtoi Dune Imperium valtikka haltijaansa.

Viikon kuva - Kolme vuotta väistelyä

Edellisessä videopostauksessa jo kerroinkin, että olin luullut sairastavani, mutta se olikin jokin esipikkuflunssa ja nyt oikeasti tuli korona. Ei onneksi isompaa draamaa, mutta kyllä tuo sopii parhaiten viikon kuvaksi. 

As I told in my previous post I realised that earlier I had just some light pre-flu and the actual covid came later. Fortunately, it didn't get too bad but this is clearly the most suitable as the photo of the week.   

Viikonloppu olikin jo varovaista palauttelua, käytiin molempina päivinä kävelyllä, kun sää oli upea. Sunnuntain eväsretkellä pääsi pitkästä aikaa pöydälle Hive pocket ja ilmeestä ehkä näkee, että on sentään jokin peli, jossa Timo vielä voittaa. 😊

We had quite a peaceful weekend, short walks on both days as the weather was really beautiful. On Sunday's walk we played two rounds of Hive pocket and the look on Katarina's face shows that there's still a game where Timo wins more often. 😊

Lauantaina uutena pelinä oli meillä The Magnificent. Teoriassa tuo on yksinkertainen sirkuksen rakentamispeli, jossa tehdään vain kolmea eri toimintoa: rakentaminen, matkustaminen ja shown esittäminen (= korttien pisteytys). Mutta kussakin on niin paljon eri mahdollisuuksia, että tuota ekaa peliä pähkittiin kolme tuntia, vaikka se tuntui kyllä lyhyemmältä ajalta. Kierroksia on kolme ja kussakin neljä toimintoa, eli periaatteessa niitäkin vähän. Toimintoon valitaan noppa (väri+numero) ja lasketaan sen voimakkuus ja käytetään lisäviritykset. Mainio tapaus tämä kyllä! 👍🏻

The new game for the weekend was The Magnificent which we played on Saturday. In theory it's quite a simple game about building a circus and you can choose from only three different actions: building, traveling and performing (= collect the points). But since each of those has a lot of options we played our first game for three hours, but it felt much shorter. There are three rounds and each of those has four turns. For each action you pick a die (color+number) and count its power + use additional functions that you have. It's indeed a magnificent game! 👍🏻

Lappi 2023 video

En päässytkään koronasta ihan niin helpolla kuin luulin. Heti tuon edellisen bloggauksen jälkeisenä yönä alkoi kuume ja sitä kestikin sitten kolme päivää. Perjantaina jo alempi, mutta aika puhki vielä ja piti vain levätä. On nyt otettu viikonloppu rauhallisesti pelaten & vähän kävellen ja tuli valmiiksi ao. Lapissa kuvatuista videoista kasattu pätkä.

Having Covid-19 wasn't as easy as I thought in my previous blog post. The next night after publishing it, a fever started and it lasted for three days. On Friday it was clearly lower but I was quite exhausted and had to rest. Now we've taken the weekend slowly and I finalized a video collected from some moments in our Lapland vacation.

Viikon kuva - kipeetä menoa

Viikon kuva on vähän tyhjää, mutta keväistä näkymää Söderfjärdenin reunalta. Vietettiin pääsiäinen lepäillen ja meidän molempien ekaa koronaa parannellen. Katarinalla oli positiivinen testi torstaina, mulla alkoi hytinäfiilis samaan aikaan, mutta vielä tänäänkään viikkoa myöhemmin testi näyttää negatiivista.

The photo of the week is a bit of an empty scene of Spring by the Söderfjärden impact crater. We spent Easter resting due to both of our first covid. Katarina got a positive result on Thursday, I got similar symptoms on the same day and feel really weak but even today a week later my test still shows negative.

Tiistaina oli vielä suht ok-olo ja kun testi oli negatiivinen, niin kävin töiden jälkeen pienellä hiihtolenkilläkin. 

Last Tuesday my feeling was quite ok and since morning's test was negative I even went for some xc skiing after work.

Perjantaina oli sitten koronaturvallinen ulkolounas ja lapsille aarteenetsintää.

On Friday there was a covid safe outdoor lunch and some treasure hunt for kids.

Pelattiin aina lepäilyjen välissä useampaa vanhaa peliä: Lost ruins of Arnak, Space base, The Game Face to face ja Akropolis. Uusia oli Dale of Merchants ja Ohanami. Jälkimmäisestä on kuvassa toisen meistä rakentamat 'puutarhat'. Kortteja valitaan vuorotellen kolme kierrosta ja kunkin kierroksen jälkeen pisteytetään aina hiukan enemmän kortteja (aluksi sinisiä, sitten myös vihreitä ja viimeksi ne kaikki). Kätevä peli - voisi olla vielä parempi useammalla pelaajalla. 

We played several different games between resting moments. Old ones: Lost ruins of Arnak, Space base, The Game Face to face and Akropolis. New ones were Dale of Merchants and Ohanami. Of the latter one the picture below shows the 'gardens' one of us built. You choose cards for three rounds and first you get points of blue cards,  on the second round of blue and green and on the third of all cards. A clever game - it could be even better played with 3-4 players.

Viikon kuva on siis otettu tällä samalla istumalla. Käveltiin varovasti lähes kilometri tähän ja lepäiltiin auringossa pitkään. 

The photo of the week was taken on this spot. We walked about a mile and had here in the middle a long rest sitting on the sunny bench.

Viikon kuva - Lomaviikko meni nopeasti

Viikon kuvana Lainiolla käydessä tehty kurkkaus lumilinnan puolelle. Egypti-teema oli hieno ja toi mieleen nuoruuden lempipelini Tomb Raiderin. 

The photo of the week shows one wall in the Snow Village which we peeked at while visiting Lainio. This reminds me of my 90s favorite game Tomb Raider.

Paikan logo oli muutenkin tyylikäs.

Ja sen sisällä olikin rauhallista syödä eväät.

Viikon pelivalikoima olikin tuossa edellä, uusia oli vain pari pientä peliä. Niistä eka ovela oli Caesar! Tuossa kahdelle olevassa pelissä taistellaan Välimeren alueen maakunnissa ylivoimasta - kunkin alueen sulkeva saa sieltä löytyvän etutoiminnon ja alueen voittava saa laittaa sinne omia pelimerkkejään. Ensiksi merkeistään eroon päässyt on voittaja. Tässä minä viimeinkin neljännellä yritykselläni. 😊

The game collection of the trip was presented in my previous post, but only a few smaller games were new to us. The first one was Caesar! It's a two player game where we fight over the control of provinces around the Mediterranean sea. The one who closes the area gets a bonus of it and the one who has more power there gets to put her signets there. Whoever places all of those first is the winner. Here it was me finally on my fourth try. 😊

Tehtiin useinmiten hiihtolenkki suoraan mökiltä, niin ei tarvinnut käyttää aikaa johonkin ajamiseen. Tämä oli näkymä nyt parin vuoden ajan järven poikki Eelille menevältä ladulta.

Usually we started skiing directly from the cottage so we avoided using time to drive. This view is from the lake skiing tracks which have been done now for a few years.

Ennen Red Rising pelejä oli luvassa jälkkärilättyihin vegevaahto.

Auto sai muutamana yönä hiukan lumipeitettä.

Hanamikoji soi vihdoin mullekin voittoja, kun aiempia pelejä voitti yleensä Katarina. Tässä on vain 10 korttia molemmille ja neljä erilaista toimintoa, mutta pohtimista ja taktikointia riitti. Voittaja on se, joka saa ensin puolelleen neljä Geishaa tai 11 pistettä

Hanamikoji was finally the game where I won. There's only 10 cards for each player and four different actions to be done on each round but a lot of depth in planning the tactics. The one who first gets four Geishas or 11 charm points is the winner. 

Perjantaina tapahtui sitten harvinaisuus, eli mut nähtiin vanhojen tansseissa. Äkäshotellilla piti olla Kake Randelin, mutta oli vaihtunut sairastumisen takia johonkin vastaavaan. Lämmintä menoa riitti pari tuntia.

Friday a rare thing happened for me as I participated in couples dance happening. I've always thought that this disappears from the world when I get older but now there are people 10-20 years younger than me doing it. 

Paluukin tehtiin kahdessa pätkässä, eli lähdettiin lauantaina klo 17 ja ajettiin Ouluun yöksi Airbnb-paikkaan. Sieltä suoraan Vaasaan Hoploppiin Katarinan lapsenlapsen 9v-synttäreille. 

We also returned to Vaasa in two days. We left Ylläs on Saturday at 5 p.m. and stayed in an Airbnb place in Oulu. Then on Sunday morning  we came directly to Vaasa for Katarina's grandchild's 9th birthday.

Joku pikkujäpikkä oli keksinyt kätevän paikan pelata palloa-koriin -peliä. 

A little fellow found an efficient way to play the basketball machine.

Ensimmäiset eduskuntavaalini menivät huimasti paremmin kuin olin toivonutkaan. Piraattipuolue ansaitsee päästä eduskuntaan viimeistään seuraavissa vaaleissa - sen verran hyviä ideoita ja ajatuksia sieltä löytyy.   

I was a parliament candidate of Pirate party of Finland in this year's election. My votes (73) clearly exceeds the number of my relatives in Helsinki, so it was a wonderful surprise to get this much support.

Äänimääräni 73 on selvästi isompi kuin minulla on sukulaisia Helsingissä, joten suuret kiitokset teille kaikille luottamuslauseenne antaneille. 🙏🏼🌹🏴‍☠️

I'm very grateful to everybody who gave their only vote for me! 🌹 This means a lot to all young Pirates (and even more to me) as it tells that there's a clear need for the ideas of Pirates.
